This week saw the US launch of Swedish brand - from buyer meetings, to a dining experience, to a consumer focused pop-up. We loved working with to bring this vision to life.

Incubating and supporting artists is something we pride ourselves on at sommwhere. Continuing our ‘Notes from Sommwhere’ series we are excited to bring you, “Nebulous Ensemble” performing next Wednesday at our 48 Ludlow location. Nebulous is a traditional string quartet in its instrumentation but with a sound far from traditional. Inspired by improv, they create composition from a nebulous state. Come witness the magic on 04/12/23. Tickets available at the door for $20.

It’s a full moon tonight. So many communities around the world are celebrating / commemorating this night + day. For the Muslims, it’s 15th shabaan, a night of prayer- for the Jews, they are feasting for Purim, and for the Hindus, it’s Holi, the festival of color, love and spring. We may have different holidays, but some things unify us, like celebrating under the same sky tonight.

As we fade out of 2021, we look out to the possibilities of 2022. The most tangible change we have experienced over the last few years is the deep need for the IRL connection. It’s why we created our spaces. Looking back over the year, there are so many amazing people we have hosted. It’s hard to post on Instagram the experience of time spent together, celebrating, commemorating, or dining together- What you see on Instagram is rarely a true depiction of what happens in real life. It’s why I personally struggle with posting here, because the sheer experience of documenting the moment, often times takes you out of the moment. It’s why we share so little content on here- some things we try to keep sacred. But since omicron is creeping through our quiet streets, and we want you all to stay safe- we’ve decided to spend this week reflecting on those magic moments we witnessed in 2021- may we continue to treasure our reality and the moments that make it all feel magic.

How to share this love story of this gorgeous couple on a simple Instagram post? Perhaps you’ll just feel it, like how we did when and walked into our space and told us their master plan of how to celebrate their union. They were hardcore Sommwhere To Go fans and would come and get their weekly hit of our breakfast burritos during the bodega days. Their love trickled through the neighborhood and they sneakily got wed in seward park, with a mariachi band that serenaded them back to ludlow for the live feast and party. What a night! And what a couple!

Last night, @oti.nyc opened its doors to completing our Sommwhere Chef’s Table at 15 Essex// For the next 6 months: You can experience the Romanian roots of chef @eliaspopa serving up some delicious new American food in the evenings. (W-Sat) You can also find handmade pastries at the bakery in the mornings @byclionyc (M-Fri) Sunday evenings are a secret, and for this month only, so you’ll have to get in touch with @bedroom6nyc if you want to know more. (4-12pm)
