CALL FOR ACTORS AND NON-ACTORS Ages 40-60 FOR FREE ACTING CLASSES with YOU’RE NEVER TOO OLD TO PLAY. Starting Oct 2024. YNTOTP started as an acting work 5 years ago for seniors of 65 and older. It was open to actors and non-actors alike. We now wantto expand the group and invite new participants.

In the past five years we have made three pieces, two of which we performed at
the Glade, the small theatre on Little Island. The third one, based on the theme of aging and entitled ABOVE GROUND (Not Exactly a Comedy), we performed in the Community Room of Westbeth, where it was met with great enthusiasm by the audience.

To explore intergenerational dynamics, and to create a new piece, we are opening the group up to ages 40-60 years, along with some new seniors as well.

NANCY GABOR and PAUL BINNERTS, directors/acting teachers of YOU’RE NEVER
TOO OLD TO PLAY, are inviting interested people to join the group for a project based on a theme yet to be defined. The theme will appeal to both participating generations.

The work will focus on physical and vocal exercises, and improvisations
emphasizing play and ensemble (Nancy’s Core Technique), and crafting a story (Paul’s Acting in Real Time). Central in this work is the presence of the actor.
We will conduct a workshop from October to Christmas, for new members, to get to know the group and to integrate into it. Commitment is necessary. After New Year 2025, we plan to start on the new project.

The group meets once a week, on Thursdays, from 11 AM to 2 PM.

ART LIVES HERE: COLLECTING - An Art Fair at Westbeth Gallery Installing the show. Opening Wed Aug 28, 2024 from 6pm - 8pm. Collecting is curated from the viewpoint of collecting contemporary art and
building a collection over time. ALH founder and chief curator Connie Lee led the curatorial
team of Alison Cuomo, Karen Fitzgerald and Jim Richards.

Each of the 4 rooms at the iconic Westbeth Gallery are curated with a unique theme within the larger cohesive exhibition.
Art Lives Here: Collecting will feature the work of 52 contemporary artists. All are members of
ALH’s growing community of artists from New York City, the U.S., London, Berlin and Buenos

Hear Gigi Gryce’s popular songs like Social Call and Music in the Air alongside many never before heard lyrics to his many lesser known gems!

Gigi Gryce was a saxophonist and composer who worked with some of the best-known names in jazz during the 1950s, including Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, and Max Roach. His many compositions remain a part of the jazz repertoire today.
Alexis Cole has been compared to classic jazz singers such as Sarah Vaughan and Anita O’Day. A Top Winner of the Jazzmobile Vocal Competition judged by jazz icons TS Monk, Catherine Russell, Grady Tate and Dr. Billy Taylor, 3rd prize winner in the Montreux Jazz Vocal Competition, and a finalist in the Sarah Vaughan Competition, Alexis has a dozen albums to her credit on Motéma, Chesky, Venus Records and Zoho. She has recorded with such artists as Fred Hersch, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Don Braden. She’s been a soloist with the Boston Pops, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and has headlined at clubs around the US and Asia .
