It was on this day in 2016 I when I saw Jax and quickly fell in love. He was 13 weeks old, covered in mange, had goofy over sized paws, wonky eyed, and trying desperately to dig a hole in the tile floor.

I picked him up and held him but he was overwhelmingly distracted by the other dogs nearby. He stretched his neck around my shoulder just to see them. All he wanted to do was play. It was that moment that I knew he was the dog I was taking home.

When I went to sign the adoption papers, the staff couldn’t believe that I wanted such a sick, and hyperactive dog. She said “this one?! Are you sure?”

Jax taught me a lot about myself. He was my favorite dog ever. And I miss him everyday.
