Prodigy Mural Defaced Again 24 Hours After Clean Up

WOOOW!! AGAIN.....

Within the span of 48 hours, the mural that artists Jeff Henriquez and Eli Lazare created in honor of Prodigy has been created, defaced, cleaned and vandalized again.

Instagram user, Raphael Gonzalez, posted a picture Monday morning (July 10) of Prodigy’s mural splattered with paint for a second time.

READ: Prodigy’s Mural Is Defaced Hours After Completion

The mural can be found across the street from Queensbridge Houses in NYC, scaled on the wall of the Urban Upbound building on 13th Street and 40th Avenue. When the honorary art was first discovered, hip-hop fans rejoiced, sharing pictures across social media. Just hours later, it was ruined with white paint splattered across the portrait of the late MC.

On Sunday (July 9), Henriquez and Lazare were found repainting and restoring their masterpiece without the knowledge that it would be disrespected again—this time, with red paint.

The artists shared a combined statement with DNAinfo upon the initial reveal of the Mobb Deep rapper’s mural: “His deep and meaningful lyrics inspired and influenced many young rappers and followers.”

Although the task at hand is tedious and time-consuming, we know both Henriquez and Lazare return, undefeated and ready to restore the mural again.

Just a day after the artists cleaned and restored Prodigy’s mural, they’re met with more disrespect as red paint was found splattered across their art.

About Eric B. & Rakim

Eric B. & Rakim were almost universally recognized as the premier DJ/MC team in all of hip-hop. Not only was their chemistry superb, but individually, each represented the absolute state of the art in their respective skills. Eric B. was a hugely influential DJ and beatmaker whose taste for hard-hitting James Brown samples touched off a stampede through the Godfather of Soul’s back catalog that continues up to the present day. Rakim, meanwhile, still tops fan polls as the greatest MC of all time. He crafted his rhymes like poetry, filling his lines with elaborate metaphors and complex internal rhymes, and he played with the beat like a jazzman, earning a reputation as the smoothest-flowing MC ever to pick up a mic. Together, their peerless technique on the microphone and turntables upped the ante for all who followed them, and their advancement of hip-hop as an art form has been acknowledged by everyone from Gang Starr to the Wu-Tang Clan to Eminem.

Educated Rapper (also known as EMD) of the classic Hip Hop group UTFO has passed away, according to former Geto Boys DJ Ready Red, Rahiem of the Furious Five, fellow UTFO member Mix Master Ice and legendary Bronx promoter Van Silk. He was 54.

The news was confirmed late Saturday (June 3) after the “Roxanne, Roxanne” MC had been taken to a Brooklyn hospital where he unfortunately did not pull through. Prior to his passing, Mix Master Ice, who was UTFO’s DJ, penned an emotional tribute via Facebook.

“This is a All Out Cry For Prayer,” Ice wrote. “I just got the ok from family to go viral.. As I hold his hand, I need everyone’s power in prayer to pray for one of my best friends since 1979 & hip hop partner, Jeffrey Campbell.. Known to our World Wide fans as: The Educated Rapper MD or EMD 1/4 of the U.T.F.O. crew, which stands for: ‘Untouchable Force Organization.’ * He is extremely ill and not doing well..Please help us pray for a Miracle Blessing..”

While details surrounding his passing are scarce, Van Silk, who is a self-professed “Hip Hop Ambassador” and legend in his own right, mentioned he had cancer while speaking to HipHopDX.

“I just got off the phone with Rahiem,” Van Silk says. “They were all hospital last night. It was the first time all original members of UTFO had been together in a long time. He had been sick with cancer and must have had it for awhile.”

Van Silk also penned a tribute of his own via Facebook as well.

“Sorry..I heard the pain and prayer last night when I called when you was with him,” he wrote. “Thanks for letting me be part of that moment. MAY OUR HIP HOP AMBASSADOR SLEEP IN PEACE..REST SIR. JEFFERY CAMPBELL aka EDUCATED RAPPER.”😔
