Talk Therapy Stories + Open Mic A New York City-based storytelling and open mic show featuring stories about mental health. It seems like everybody in New York is in therapy — including me.

I figured that all those mentally ill people walking around must have a few good stories to tell. That’s why I started Talk Therapy Stories + Open Mic, a monthly show at QED: A Place to Show and Tell in Astoria. The show features comics, actors, and regular people telling true tales — sometimes funny, occasionally sad, and always compelling — related to mental health. After the featured performers

, an open-mic offers audience members the chance to tell their own 6-minute story. Talk Therapy Stories + Open Mic offers not only entertaining stories, but also a reminder that sharing our stories of deep pain and day-to-day triumph helps ourselves and each other.
