We're hiring chef educators for our South Brooklyn kitchen and our partner schools in Downtown Brooklyn!
Duties include:

Recipe development /creation
Leading kids' cooking classes, for children aged 5 to 12.
Prep for classes: station set up, portioning
Clean up & breakdown of kitchen/cooking space
Lead, supervise and guide kid chefs during cooking while building a discourse on relevant cultural/nutrition/food topics.
Build and maintain positive relationships with both parents and children.
Follow up after classes GAK director and school partner director

You should be/have:
Great Classroom management skills
Highly reliable, self-motivated, independent, motivational educator that can teach scratch cooking
Some teaching background preferred, experience w kids and enjoying working with kids necessary
Basic kitchen/cooking and food knowledge
Strong communication skills with the ability to troubleshoot a recipe if necessary
Organized with an attention to detail.

Happy National Cookie Day!
Here is a favorite of ours:
Anisette Cookies
5 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 Tablespoon baking powder
3/4 cup butter
2 Tablespoon lemon extract
2 Tablespoon anise extract
2 Tablespoon anise seeds
1/2 cup milk
Cut flour and butter together. Mix remaining ingredients into the flour mixture. Take a piece of dough and roll in your hands approx 1/4 " wide by 6 " long logs. Connect at the ends to form a circle or take the log and make an "S" shape. Bake at 350 degrees for approx 12 - 14 minutes. Dip top of cookie in glaze of confectioners sugar, warm milk and vanilla. Sprinkle with non pareils while glaze is wet and let dry.
