Waking up with joy in my heart and mind space this morning. The first time since big brother Jonathan passed that I am ready to celebrate his life on this his earthday. The tears that come are tears of happiness, of joy, for the love and time he shared with me and with us. They are for all those beautiful memories of us building, and growing and sharing. They are for that experience of following him to Brooklyn Tech, him advocating for me to play football and me doing it without my parents awareness. Me going upstate for college like he did, me pledging after him though I recognized his choice of where to land would not be my choice and us having fun with that as we brought brothers beyond the lines and distinctions of fraternity. It's for building Nigerian Fabrics and Fasions, and then Amarachi with Emmanuel and Bubby as we spread the message of pan-Africani unity and connection to our people. I launch a new effory this Sunday, a healing and community based effort rooted in self and community love. Our vision of community will be shared and I will be inviting his energy to stand with me as I continue the work we started together. Love you big brother and gratefulfor the difference you made in my life.
