One in a million shot!
We were out in Gantry Park to take photos of some gorgeous red explorer roses against the New York City skyline when a bird flew by. We realized only after that the bird got captured in the photo. We couldn’t even time it if we planned it.

Van Vliet New York is holding the 2023 Japanese Flower Exhibition on March 13th and 14th, from 10:30am to 2:30 pm. In recognition of national women’s month, the exhibition will be featuring Aista from Aiku Floral and Pola from Rosehip Floral, who will display their latest work “Spontaneous Bloom”.

Aista and Pola’s “Spontaneous Bloom” is a celebration of the ever- changing seasons and inspired by their appreciation of blooming branches, bursting petals and reaching stems. This piece captures the ephemeral beauty of nature’s rebirth.

Aista and Pola will be working exclusively with Japanese flowers provided by our co-sponsors, the Naniwa Flower Auction. Tokushima Prefecture and Nara Prefecture will also be attending. Takushima Prefecture will answer any questions you have about their cymbidiums, epidendrums and lady slippers; and Nara Prefecture will answer any question you have about their branches.

In this industry we’re always being challenged to do something new and outside of the box. On this project we worked with @spina to create a 48” size number 15 in styrofoam. It was for West 57 by Hilton Club 15th anniversary. Preserved sheet moss was used to cover the numbers and then artificial succulents and flowers were added.
