What if… If I hadn’t shown up as an extra to a music video shoot on my college campus then I wouldn’t have met the friends who would inspire my interest in photography more seriously. If I hadn’t said yes to my college bestie asking me to photograph her wedding, I wouldn’t have researched wedding photography careers. If I hadn’t arrived late to a clothing swap, I might not have met the photographer who gave me my first job second shooting and eventually became my mentor. If I didn’t hate my first job out of college, I wouldn’t have quit to do photography full-time. If I didn’t impulse buy a $200 ticket to NYC for my birthday in 2019, I might not have fallen in love with the city. Have you decided on your wedding send off yet? 🤔 Your wedding send off can be just as memorable as your entrance to your ceremony and reception. It’s the final opportunity for guests to celebrate you and your new life together in true style before departing at the end of the night.  Popular send offs include sparklers, bubbles, bird seed, and flower petals - all of which make for beautiful photos. But if you’re looking for something just a bit more exciting, try throwing paper or metallic streamers! 🎉 For OkCrowe couple Mary Bess and Jordan, one of the most important things they kept in mind while planning their wedding was making sure both they and their guests were having a good time. Not only were they a super fun couple to work with, but their entire wedding was a blast from beginning to end. After a ceremony and reception at the Chattanooga Whiskey Event Hall, their guests lined up outside the venue and threw paper streamers over them as they walked past. The result was pure chaos and fun with amazing pictures to prove it 😁 By the time the two made it from the doorway of the venue to their getaway trolley, they were almost completely covered in a tangled web of streamers. While I hope for the absolute best at each and every event I photograph, sometimes things just happen! It’s helpful to have an experienced vendor on your side to help navigate those situations. Ways I’ve helped my couples in the past… Wedding day rain is everyone’s nightmare. When the weather suddenly changed at an outdoor wedding, I helped coordinate moving the ceremony to an indoor location and arranging decor/seating in a way that worked best with the lighting from the room’s windows to preserve the view. At another rainy event, the bride was disappointed they would be missing a sparkler sendoff at the end of their reception. I suggested that we have all of the guests gather in the venue’s hallway, hold up their cellphone lights, and make a tunnel for the couple to walk through for photos and goodbyes. The photos turned out adorable! I recently was photographing groomsmen group photos right before a ceremony when the groom’s jacket buttons fell off! The planner had already stepped away to coordinate guest arrive, so I was the only one left around that knows how to sew. I had his buttons stitched back on and was outside ready for the ceremony before anyone could even notice. Not to toot my own horn, but 🎺 I love being a helpful resource to my couples. Whether that’s before their wedding by helping plan timelines and shot lists, during, or after their event. I also highly recommend having an experienced and knowledgeable wedding planner on your side. A little “about me” for new friends following along! I’m still amazed when I think about how my little high school photography hobby has turned into a real business with hundreds of happy clients. I’m so excited to take my wedding photography to Manhattan this spring! Moving with my pets and uprooting my business with have it’s challenges, but I know it will be worth it for the new opportunities and experiences that moving will bring. I also have some exciting announcements coming in 2024! Hint: there be new service offerings coming for clients and educational resources for photographers (selling presets, templates, and a marketing course are all on my goal list!)
