Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As New York City looks to begin a phased re-opening, we wanted to reach out and let you know that we’re back, kind of. In compliance with the governor’s rules for Phase 1, Alias Costumes will re-open for curbside pick-up or shipping starting on Monday, June 8th.
This has been an insane and trying time for all of us. Our lives have been upended by multiple forces at once. Coronavirus. Protests. Social Unrest. Many of us have experienced losses of family, friends, colleagues, employment, sanity and on and on. Many have been in the streets protesting the unjust killings of Black people in our society, the systemic racism, the inequality the Black community continues to face,
and to have the most basic of all principles heard and honored: that Black Lives Matter.
We stand in support and while knowing there is much work ahead, we are hopeful that the strength of our collective voices can bring meaningful change.
We are hopeful our industry can rebound slowly and projects that were put on hiatus return. Our thoughts are with all of you as we begin to figure out this new reality. What exactly that will be, none of us quite know, but Alias Costumes is here to support the community as we process and adapt in these new work environments.
We realize that most productions will still be on hiatus during this time period, so for the few who are returning to work and are in need of costumes to rent, we will offer video conferencing to assist you in your pulls. Email us for the quickest response. We will not have scheduled shop hours or in-person pulls until Phase 2, but each request will be addressed and processed in a timely fashion as they come in.
Our pull fee is $40/hr (1 hr. minimum). We can pull the costumes that you request, communicate with images, video and in-depth email exchange regarding size and styles you are looking for and what we have in stock. We will write it up on confirmation from you and prepare it for a pickup (scheduled at time convenient to you within our "working" hours) or a shipment (flat $20 pack fee, you pay shipping back or use own account). All items have an individual weekly minimum price, cleaning is included in our prices, we launder on site. We offer an extended 2nd week of rental at just 25% of the minimum, and extension of 3 weeks up to 6 weeks is offered at 50% of minimum. We do charge a flat $20 fee to pack/ship items; we ship with FedEx and charge back additional confirmed shipping costs.
We appreciate your support, and hope to continue to serve the community with our costume rentals for many years to come. Our collection includes workwear, police, military and specialty uniforms, multi-cultural & religious clothing, vintage-contemporary kids, men’s, women's clothes and a novelty selection.
