Cooking Classes are always lots of fun! It’s a beautiful interaction and an exchange in knowledge and culture. I was surprised at how knowledgeable some attendees were on Rigla and Sudan in general.

In this class we made Rigla, a popular Sudanese lentil and purslane stew served with Sudanese style fried sea bass. 🤌🏾😋🍲

A huge thank you to using her voice to shed light on the largest displacement crisis in the world with her recent visit to Chad. Demonstrating the beautiful hospitable culture of our neighbors. ❤️ With local grassroots efforts running communal kitchens, collective shelter, sharing their land, water and healthcare and achieving so much with such little effort and resources. It is imperative that there is an immediate end to the hostilities to halt further loss of life!

I want to give a huge thank you to the team and their incredible chefs! I came in on the morning of the (Sudanese food) lunch service and they had already folded the Sambuxas! I was very impressed, after having only shown the head chef. They learned very fast!

There is something very special about working along side other passionate and knowledgeable chefs. It definitely translated into the impeccable ex*****on of our recipes. People who get to eat ‘s food are definitely eating very well. As you can see I grabbed myself a plate and cleared it! 😋😂

I want to thank and for this unforgettable opportunity and giving us a platform to share about Sudan, our food and our culture. Merci 🥰🙏🏾✨

Three days of serving delicious fresh (Sudanese food)!

It was a pleasure doing the lunch service at this beautiful space 😍 and giving the people of Queens a taste of Sudan.

We served:
Sambuxas (Halal beef, cheese and veggie)
Halal Beef and Chicken Kufta meatballs
Aswad (Eggplant peanut salad)
Ful (Fava beans)
Mini Maasai (Stuffed mini peppers)
Tomato Rice

The people of Sudan are always in our prayers. ❤️✨

The best part is when customers come back and tell you how good the food was. One man even came back to get some food to take home to his wife 🥰. Moments that I live for.

Happy New Year everyone ✨🎆 We wrapped up the year with these wraps 😋

We want to thank you for all your support in 2023! We’re looking forward to providing more delicious (Sudanesefood) to you this year.

Our menu is very delicious and versatile! A customer had to remind us that this collard green wrap was on the menu! 😂🤣

Here a delicious vegan, gluten free collard green ful wrap with Salata Aswad (Eggplant peanut butter salad) and Taamiya (Falafel).

Continue to and keep the people of Sudan in your prayers🙏🏾 May we be able to return home to peace this year.

What striking vibrance 😍 you’d think there’s a garden in the back of the kitchen! The colors and vibrance remind me of the Souks(Markets) in Sudan. The vendors, the smells of fresh limes and spices…Keep Sudan in your prayers 🙏🏾❤️

At Sambuxa NYC we work on this level of freshness! Everything from scratch, a true labour of love. The folding of the Sambuxas alone and the Ma3shi (stuffed peppers) are a whole process. We needn’t say people came for seconds! ✨. As a chef I believe that food is a direct energy transfer. We hope that our food has put a smile on many faces when they tasted it. ❤️

UWC Sudan is the volunteer-run entity that selects exceptional students from Sudan through rigorous selection and admissions activities and interviews. Since 2012, we have nominated over 30 Sudanese students, including refugees, to the different schools and awarded them with full and partial scholarships.

Due to the onset of civil war in April, the committee has an urgent need to cover additional costs for students that are beyond their scholarships, such as flight tickets and unforeseen travel expenses.

Your generous contribution will enable these students to gain access to a world-class education, empowering them to reach their full potential and emerge as future leaders and changemakers of Sudan. By investing in their education, you are not only transforming their lives but also investing in the progress and prosperity of their families and contributing to the rebuilding of the Sudanese nation.
