A few of you wanted to know why the Secret Service showed up during the ceremony…

Well, here it is.

A story about the unexpected, the importance of teams and why some of the most valuable work at a wedding (or any event) is the work no one ever sees.

Recently, VoyageMIA sat down with me to discuss the journey behind Yanie & Yael Events, Yanie’s Boutique Rentals and the vision continuing to shape my work across culture, design & storytelling.

Grateful for the opportunity to reflect on the journey, the lessons and the purpose behind it all.

Wedding Stories They Don’t Tell You.

Yes… the Secret Service actually showed up moments before the bride walked down the aisle.

I can tell you what I do.
My clients can tell you how it felt.
And the work?
The work speaks for itself.

I’m not one to make many appearances, but WIPA NY’s Timeless vs. Trends all-white event was right up my alley.

There’s one thing that continues to ring true in this industry—success is built on relationships. And relationships require trust. Trust that is built over time.

It’s easy to measure our progress against someone else’s timeline, but comparison will always distort what is uniquely ours.

I came across a quote that evening that stayed with me:
“Every timeless icon was once rejected.”

My work will always lean toward the side of timeless—much like my personal style. A curation of where I’ve been, where I am, and where I’m going. Simply, who I am.

The clients who align with me have a strong sense of who they are and what they want.

And that… is never a trend.

Thank you to for bringing the industry together for such a beautiful evening. Everything was thoughtfully done—applause to the entire team and all the creatives involved.

I ran my first half marathon.

But more than that
I finished something I started.

With discipline.
With intention.
With growth.

And I didn’t do it alone.

I did it with my husband.

And that part means more than I can fully put into words.

Because life doesn’t always look like the highlight reel.
There were moments where things felt uncertain, stretched, even fragile.

But this?
This is what commitment looks like.

Choosing to grow.
Choosing to stay.
Choosing to build, individually and together.

Watching him push himself.
Pushing myself.
Meeting each other at the finish line…

That’s marriage.

Not perfection.
But endurance.

And somewhere along the way, I stopped measuring myself against who I used to be.

Life isn’t linear.
It dips. It climbs. It pauses.
But if you stay with it, you grow.

This is the same energy I bring into every space I create.
The ability to hold vision, even when the process isn’t perfect.

So yes—
first half marathon done.

Next: the marathon.
(…and we’re aiming for 2:30. Let’s be very clear 😌)

“What surprised you most about marriage?”

He said: the learning curve.

Even after years together…
you don’t fully know someone
until you share a life.

The habits.
The rhythms.
The things that clash
and the choice to adjust, together.

Because love isn’t just knowing someone.
It’s learning them again… in a new way.

Beyond the vows
love becomes understanding.

“What surprised you most about marriage?”

She thought he would change more.

But instead…
she changed.

Growth.

Not just as a couple
but within herself.

Becoming softer.
More open.
More willing to evolve beyond who she thought she was.

Sometimes the biggest shift in marriage
is realizing… it starts with you.

Beyond the vows
you become someone new, too.

“What surprised you most about marriage?”

She said: consideration.

Living with someone…
means learning it’s no longer just about you.

It’s in the small things
the words you say,
the way you show up,
the awareness that love is mutual.

To be seen…
you must also see.

Beyond the vows, it’s not just love
it’s learning to consider someone else, daily.
