Horror story day 3 of 100 days series -
**Echoes of the Forest**
In the small town of Ashwood, nestled near the dense forests of the Pacific Northwest, something sinister was lurking. Recently, a series of mysterious disappearances had gripped the town, leaving the residents on edge. Each disappearance had one thing in common: the victims were last seen near the edge of the forest.
Emily, a local journalist, decided to investigate the case. She started digging through old town records and discovered that Ashwood had a dark past. The forest was rumored to be haunted by the spirits of a lost Native American tribe who had vanished without a trace centuries ago. The townspeople believed that the spirits were now seeking revenge on anyone who disturbed their resting place.
Undeterred, Emily ventured into the forest one evening, armed with her camera and notebook. As she walked deeper into the woods, she felt an eerie presence around her. The trees seemed to whisper secrets, and shadows danced in the corners of her vision. She suddenly stumbled upon a clearing where she found an ancient stone altar, covered in strange symbols and surrounded by flickering candles.
As she took photos and notes, a chilling voice echoed through the clearing, "Leave this place, or suffer the same fate." Terrified, Emily tried to leave, but the forest seemed to close in around her. The trees twisted and turned, creating a labyrinth she couldn't escape from. Desperate, she ran until she reached a familiar path and finally found her way out.
Emily returned to town, shaken but determined to share her findings. She published her story, warning the townspeople to stay away from the forest. Despite her warnings, curiosity got the better of some residents, and they ventured into the woods, never to be seen again.
The town of Ashwood was left with the chilling memory of the forest's echoes, and the legend of the vengeful spirits continued to haunt them.
