IF YOU THINK this group shot shows joy, you should have seen the audience when it applauded As the Crow Flies for its compelling presentation of its program The Pearl Earring at the November 14, 2024, Midtown Concerts series. Music by Dutch composers, both famous and forgotten (but not by these intrepid musicians!) graced the afternoon, including Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Cornelis Schuyt, Carel Hacquart, Philippe van Wichel, Benedictus Buns, and more.

THE SWEETEST TENOR voice and the tenderest songs of love and loss combined at last week's Midtown Concert, starring tenor Bud Roach, accompanying himself on theorbo. "Then be not coy, but use your time" applies to art as well as love, so be sure to set aside some time to watch the video of this lovely performance on the Midtown Concerts site.

WHAT SCHUBERT HEARD, we do not know, but it must have been glorious if the musicians he worked with were as talented as NEMA a4. Thank you, Manami Mizumoto and Edson Scheid, violins; Andrew Gonzalez, viola; and Nathan Whittaker, violoncello, for your thrilling Midtown Concerts performance yesterday of Death and the Maiden.
