The Wakeman Agency

The Wakeman Agency Social change agency amplifying the voices of mission-driven causes and the people that lead them.

In 2003, our founder, Vanessa Wakeman had a bold vision for an agency that would provide services to the nonprofit sector. Months later, we produced our very first event, a fundraising luncheon for a small nonprofit etiquette school. That was our first step toward building a legendary legacy of special events and public relations campaigns. Today, we are a social change agency that helps to amplif

y the voices of mission-driven causes and the people that lead them. We are proud to serve as trusted advisors to nonprofits and socially responsible companies around the country. Our client roster is a “who’s who of change makers working on issues such as poverty, education, civil rights, women’s rights, healthcare and entrepreneurship. We are the masterminds behind She Roars, the first thought leadership program for women in social change and a number of online public relations training programs for nonprofits. Our team is smart, charming, passionate and proud to stand alongside those on the forefront of social change. Our offices are in New York City and Silicon Valley but our clients are around the globe. "Despite its popularity, diversity training, by itself, is unlikely to do much to increase your company’s diversity, equity or inclusion... To make a lasting difference, companies must:

✔️ Measure their current levels of diversity, equity and inclusion.
✔️ After setting your baseline, look into more comprehensive, ongoing initiatives.
✔️ If you’re going to include diversity training in your roadmap, consider making it voluntary.
✔️ Also consider making diversity-promoting behaviors part of employee evaluations.
✔️ Task company leaders with ideating potential DEI initiatives and best practices."
