Dear friends, colleagues, and fellow industry professionals,

After more than 30 years in the costume business Sarah Timberlake is retiring. With that retirement and the myriad of changes in the costume industry comes the closing of Timberlake Studios, Inc. The business officially closed on December 31, 2024. We are still tying up loose ends, and we need your help!

Timberlake Studios currently has a beautiful space on 8th Ave between 37th and 38th Streets. It’s fully outfitted with tables, machines, a dedicated fitting room, a dedicated storage room, kitchenette and 2 bathrooms. We are hoping to find someone to take over the lease and equipment. Please spread the word and let us know if you’re interested.

If we do not find someone by January 31st who is interested in taking over the lease and the equipment, we will instead liquidate. Ideally one entity will purchase everything or at least most of everything. Again, please spread the word and contact us if interested.

To our valued current and previous clients, please continue to reach out to us at [email protected]. We are dedicated to helping you find the best fit for your ongoing projects, and happy to help this transition however we can.

Please spread the word to others in the costume and fashion industries. Let’s all help Sarah to have a clean slate for her retirement to enjoy her gardening, loved ones, and, of course, her cats.

This Sunday, April 7 at 10AM, our industry's all-knowing production guru GIGI CLARK (of Vogue, Too) will be mentioned in the regular church service at Grace Lutheran Church, 3120 21st St, Astoria NY 11105 . Her family has indicated that she was cremated and they hope to hold a memorial service later this year. There is other serious illness among close family and other recent deaths of close relatives. This family needs our prayers for Peace. Ths industry sends them our collective love and best wishes for good health. RIP Gigi.

We are so sad and sorry to share the news that the venerable GIGI CLARK (of Vogue,Too) has passed away from multiple health complications.
Our hearts are with Larry and Barbara and the entire staff of Vogue Too. This is a loss for our entire industry - she was teacher, mentor, wizard and guru to many. RIP Gigi. You are missed.

On Thanksgiving Day I would especially like to express my gratefulness to our diverse set of clients spanning industries from Performance to Fashion. Grateful too for my wonderful Timberlake Team for continuing to learn and grow with me. We remember our many vendors as well, without whose products we could not function.

Yesterday I had the privilege of a walk-thru of the ready-to-go costume operations of Macy's Thanksgiving Parade! Remarkable planning and organization of literally thousands of folks assisting floats and balloons to give all of us that memorable experience.
Look for FLIP on the Slumberland float and of course, Mr Santa and Mrs Claus! We are their elf shop!

Very sad to hear of the passing of Andy Kay, a long time member of the Studio. A dancer in Europe turned artist, Andy had many interests and talents. Most notably with us, he designed and painted several pieces for the Judith Jamison Project, built by Betty Williams (Studio). This photo with Betty is from about 1995. We had the pleasure of re-creating another piece in the early 2000's. Sadly, this is all I can find from our pre-phone-photos era. There are some more somewhere....
Our hearts are with Andy's long-time partner, Jerry Dupont. A great loss.....
