On June 25th, 2014, I made history by being the first transgender woman of color to headline Carnegie Hall. Because of a lack of corporate funding, we could not do another all-inclusive concert at Carnegie Hall. I have reached out to GLAAD to see how I can help to speak about this growing problem around the United States. Nathan James has been doing extensive research regarding how Pride Organizations and events are no longer getting corporate sponsorships. GLAAD has assured me they recognize the issue and are working on a town hall meeting. We need our allies more than ever. Corporations that do support LGBTQ events need to be highlighted and uplifted for standing with our community. It is time for us to remember that the original marches and events were a PROTEST. We must remember our grassroots history. Let's work together to make important events happen around the U.S. during these difficult times. I will speak on any form of media (TV, radio, newspaper, podcast, etc) about this growing epidemic of corporate cowardice.
