This stunning gown was worn by the fantastic Christine Andreas! It was designed by Jane Greenwood for Ms. Andreas as ‘Marguerite St. Just’ in the 1997 Broadway production of “The Scarlet Pimpernel” at the Minskoff Theatre. While the production itself would have a wild and interesting run on Broadway, we couldn’t resist highlighting the incredible costume design in the production! If only we had also received the fabulous hat and majestic walking stick to complete the ensemble. This specific dress is a part of our Archival stock, but other pieces from the production can be found in our stock.

This majestic donation is from The Metropolitan Opera. Update! This costume was also used for Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia in Mysteries at the Museum Season 22, episode 1, sequence about the Potemkin Villages.

This costume was worn by two-time Tony Award winner Cherry Jones as ‘Catherine Sloper’ in Lincoln Center Theater's 1995 Broadway revival of “The Heiress” at the then Cort Theatre. This astounding performance won Jones her first Tony Awards and rave reviews across the board. It’s not a surprise that she would go on to win a second Tony for her performance in Manhattan Theatre Club's “Doubt” and star in a total of 15 Broadway productions. Designed by the inspiring Jane Greenwood and built at Eric Winterling, Inc.. This elegantly simple dress is a cherished part of our archival collection.
