Jazz-it-up Caribbean Cuisine & Catering was birthed out of a love for cooking. My mom and dad is from the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago, but my brother and I were born in the U.S. specifaclly in Brooklyn New York. As a child growing up my mom cooked on West Indian food and when we ate out we ate a Caribbean resturants also. As a young girl in high school I was always drawn to the kitchen. I would pull up a chair and watch my mom or my aunt as they cooked. Just by watching I’d learn to cook many dishes. By the age of 14 I was masting Thanksgiving meals. (That’s a biggie for our culture here in the U.S.) I then started cooking for my classmates and they began to rave how good it was. But I really became serious about cooking Caribbean foods and preserving my culture when my mom passed away. I didn’t want our culture to die with her. I needed to pass on all her recipes to my children. i want my childern to pass it on to their children because food is a huge part of preserving your cul
