JUNETEENTH and LOVE vs VIRGINIA: Today, as we honor the historic milestones of Juneteenth and last week’s anniversary of Loving v. Virginia, we also celebrate love, equality, and unity. Without Juneteenth, there would’ve never been the legalization of in*******al marriage that was Loving v Virginia’s landmark case June 12th 1967. Without Loving v Virginia there wouldn’t have been the Marriage Equality Act thanks to Obergefell v. Hodges from June 26, 2015. Without these three historic milestones, would we see Jay and Harrison beautifully captured celebrating their deserved union? Despite our current climate, we must remember love knows no boundaries, transcending race and gender, and stands as a testament to the progress we have made towards a more inclusive and accepting place. When Matt & Jeff asked if we could plan their wedding in less than 3 months, we knew after meeting them, we not only knew we could, but it was a must! 10 years after they met, it was important they kept that first date’s date of January 5th as their special day. When The Pool came in to play, we knew in order to execute a wedding in a short period of time, we were only going to use creative partners who have been in the space and know it well. No question. I’d say based on the look on their faces, we pulled it off!

When you are welcomed and become part of a specific circle in the wedding industry, it’s easy to get caught up in the chase. Chase for the next big thing or booking the next couple or event. If you don’t check yourself, you might even get caught up in making comparisons to those you love in and out of your circle. This morning, this thought crept in briefly. But then I remembered where I came from and the thought that rushed into my head was, “Yo! I’ve planned weddings at the iconic !” And where many in my circle would think, “yeah. I’ve done that.” I think about how simply 95% of planners (if not more) across the country haven’t had that honor in addition to so many other things we’ve been able to accomplish. All this is to say I’m sitting in contentment at this very moment and I hope anyone in our industry reading this is also feeling the same. And if not, give yourself some grace because if you want it, you’ll do great things.

When mothers from two different cultures come together 🇯🇵 🤎 How beautiful is this to see both moms work on this crane origami tree at (Swipe left for result)

Cranes are considered mystical and holy creatures in Japan, and they are said to live 1,000 years. That is how the number of cranes was decided, one for each year of the crane's long life. As one of the Japanese traditions, NORMALLY 1,000 paper cranes (I know some of your are counting) are put in as wedding day decor.

According to Japanese legend, anyone who folds 1,000 paper cranes will be granted a wish by the gods for their patience and dedication to the process, and this tradition was adopted into weddings as a wish for a long, harmonious, and happy marriage.

We couldn’t love this more.
