#GivingTuesday is 1 week away! In the year following the October 7 attack on Israel, the Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC of Staten Island has focused on strengthening our cultural partnership with Israel to help Jews here in Staten Island feel united with Jews around the world. Over the summer, we worked closely with our JCC Global partner community in Binyamina-Givat Ada, Israel to bring a delegation of Israeli teens from Binyamina to visit us! In just ten short days, the Israeli teens formed meaningful bonds with teens from our community and had the chance to experience a "normal" summer, away from the war they experience daily back at home. These connections helped both groups of teens feel less alone in a time when their very identity as Jews is threatened. This summer, we were proud to host a delegation of teens from our JCC Global partner community in Binaymina-Givat Ada, Israel. Over the course of ten days, our new friends from Israel and their American peers and host families strengthened the bond between our communities, while making connections we hope will last a lifetime!
