Prison phone companies rake in millions a year while exploiting incarcerated people and their families — charging high rates and fees just to make a single phone call.

Under the Martha Wright-Reed Just and Reasonable Communications Act, the now has the authority to set new, lower rate caps and alleviate the burden that high costs for connection places on incarcerated people and their loved ones. Folsom Street East honors The Ali Forney Center as a 2024 beneficiary. The Ali Forney Center is an organization that is open 24/7/365 to serve gender non-conforming youth. Ali Forney was someone who was living on the streets and the Center was founded in 2002 to assure that homeless LGBTQ+ youth have a way to escape the streets. FSE is proud to support The Ali Forney Center in creating a beacon of hope for today’s q***r youth.

Come to The White Party the week after Folsom Street East! FSE thanks for their continued support. Leather culture has a strong hand in being stewards of q***r history and so, FSE is enthusiastic in supporting The White Party, which benefits The Saint Foundation. The Saint Foundation will be with us this Sunday sharing work from their design collective. The foundation’s mission is “to acquire and preserve artifacts of New York City LGBT nightlife of the post-Stonewall era in order to create a chronicle of the socio-economic, political and cultural history of the New York LGBT community. It is hoped that this chronicle will become an educational resource for future generations of LGBT artists and activists regarding the work of those who came before them and on whose shoulders their own work will stand. Through its resources and outside contributions, it seeks to offer grants to fledgling gay and gay friendly entrepreneurs and artists to further the culture.”

Folsom Street East honors Project SAFE as a 2024 beneficiary! Project SAFE is a grassroots advocacy group based in Philadelphia that provides peer-based advocacy and direct services to women, non-binary, gender non-conforming and trans people in the s*x trade in Philadelphia with a focus on women working in the Kensington area. S*x workers in the Philadelphia area and around the world deserve basic human rights and are regularly treated as criminals and are subject to greater violence and harm than the regular population. FSE is proud to support Project SAFE in their work to reduce harm and increase health, safety and survival to empower the community with the resources needed.

Folsom Street East honors Black & Pink National as a 2024 beneficiary. Black and Pink is a prison abolitionist organization that works with q***r, transgender and HIV-positive prisoners. LGBTQ community members are disproportionately imprisoned for crimes and once incarcerated, often suffer greater abuse inside. One study indicates that q***r prisoners are three times more likely to be abused. FSE is proud to support the work of Black and Pink as they seek justice for all, not justice for some.
