In honor of Rare Disease Day, this is my warrior, Mickey. Mickey suffers from Sanfilippo syndrome, which is a rare, inherited disorder causing genetic variations that disrupt the normal activity of lysosomes in human cells. I have had the honor of knowing, being a mermaid to support MickeyFest, and working with Mickey, her brother Declan, who also suffers from Sanfilippo, and their awesome sister Maya. Keep shining, my babies!
