YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH—3 Why Don’t I Feel Like Enough?
YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH—3
Why Don’t I Feel Like Enough?
*WITHOUT CHRIST, YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH.
Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. 9For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. 10So you also are complete through your union with Christ … Colossians 2.8-10
*WHEN YOU BELIEVE YOU’RE ENOUGH, YOU WON’T SEEK THE ONE WHO IS.
... “No one is righteous—not even one. ... All have turned away … No one does good, not a single one.” Romans 3.10, 12
*TO FULLY TREASURE WHAT YOU HAVE IN CHRIST, YOU NEED TO REMEMBER WHAT YOU WERE WITHOUT HIM.
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. 2You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. ... 3All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. 4But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) Ephesians 2.1-5
Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God ... 2 Corinthians 3.4-5 ESV
^HE IS ENOUGH
“Call to me and I will answer you ...” Jeremiah 33.3 NIV
“... call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you …” Psalm 50.15 NIV
The Lord is near to all who call on him … Psalm 145.18 NIV
When I am in distress, I call to you ... Psalm 86.7 NIV
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10.13 NIV
YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH—1 NO SUCH THING AS “Your Truth”
YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH—1
NO SUCH THING AS “Your Truth”
“… I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true. “What is truth?” Pilate asked... John 18.37-38
What Is Truth? Truth is absolute, constant, and true for everyone, everywhere, all the time.
There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. Proverbs 14.12
Two Truths About Truth
1. Just because you believe something doesn’t make it true.
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?” Jeremiah 17.9
The Danger With “Your Truth”
There are no absolute truths that apply to all people.
Morality becomes subjective because right and wrong are relative.
My perception determines what’s true.
I am the source of truth.
If it’s true to me, you can’t question “my truth.”
Preach the word of God. ... Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. 3For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4They will reject the truth and chase after myths. 2 Timothy 4.2-4
2. Truth isn’t just something we believe; truth is Someone we follow.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14.6
“What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against [Jesus]. 39But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?” 40They shouted back, “No, not [Jesus]! Give us Barabbas!” ... John 18.38-40 NIV
“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8.32

WE ARE THE CHURCH
THINGS THAT GET IN THE WAY OF BEING A FAMILY
So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Ephesians 2.19
1. CHURCH HOPPING
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Hebrews 12.2
Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 2.3
I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. John 12.24
2. CHURCH POLITICS/DYSFUNCTIONAL
Never speak harshly to an older man,a but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers. 2Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters. 1 Timothy 5.1-2
My dear brothers and sisters,a how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others? James 2.1
3. NO DISCIPLESHIP/DISCIPLINE
Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Galatians 6.1
If people are causing divisions among you, give a first and second warning. After that, have nothing more to do with them. Titus 3.10

BAD PASTOR/GOOD PASTOR
Titus 1- 6if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. 7For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, 8but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. 9He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
1 Timothy 3- 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS PEACE IS AT THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS
THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS
PEACE IS AT THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS
“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” Luke 2.14
1. WHO IS THIS PEACE FOR? ALL WHO BELIEVE
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans 5.1
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. Psalm 119.165 KJV
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26.3
2. WHERE DOES PEACE COME FROM? RECONCILIATION WITH GOD
For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. Colossians 1.19-22
3. WHAT'S YOUR PLAN FOR PEACE?
ACCEPT HIS PEACE
SHARE HIS PEACE WITH OTHERS
And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. 2 Corinthians 5.18-21
