Let's talk about carnivals rides! So many people in the community (ourselves included) would love to bring back carnival rides! For 2024, so many phone calls were made to carnival ride companies! We got a lot of "It's just too far away from civilization" and "you just don't draw a big enough crowd" from all of the companies.

The good news: two companies have come forward that are willing to work with us!

The bad news: as of right now the carnival rides are out of our budget.

We did want to share with everyone the two quotes, so that you can see what the goal to work towards looks like! Many do not realize the costs of carnival rides, even for one weekend. And these quotes do not include required employee hotel rooms or generator rentals.

But, it's something to work towards in the future! 😃

We saw some really great LOCAL livestock and exhibits at the U.P. State Fair in Escanaba last week!

Just a reminder that it is OK to use our fair as a practice run for showing before heading to Escanaba.

There is also the "Gold Ribbon" Program that youth exhibitors can participate in to waive their State Fair exhibit fees once winning "Best in Show" with us! Scholarships are also available with the Gold Ribbon Program when you show at our fair and then go on to the larger State Fair.

This year no local youth took advantage of this wonderful program! It is something for our local youth farmers to think about for next year! 😃

The Tahquamenon Area Library donated these lighthouses to the fair this summer and we had a wonderful exhibit display with them during fair week! We would like to pay it forward and offer these lighthouses to anyone else in the community that would appreciate them! It can be a single model or multiple. They were built by TAS students 20 years or so ago.

Pole barn storage through the winter might not be kind to them, so please let us know ASAP! Otherwise some barn mice might take up residence in these 5 star accommodations. 😬🐭

It's derby day! The cars are already lining up! Registration for teams begins at noon. Derby at 3! Grandpa's Mini Donuts and Styes Guys BBQ will be at the grandstand for extra snacks!

If that isn't quite your crowd, we do still have the bounce houses, vendors, exhibits, and animals to come visit!

Well that was an interesting day, if nothing else! Thank you to everyone that stuck it out through all of the wind this afternoon!

Tomorrow is the derby at 3!

We also have the vendors, exhibits, bounce houses, bingo and Country Kickers live music in the barn!
