Politicians love to talk about small businesses being the backbone of our economy — but what if that backbone breaks and you can’t afford to care for it? Or bleeds you dry just paying for coverage even if you don’t get sick?

That’s why we need the New York Health Act, a plan for comprehensive, universal health coverage for all New Yorkers.

It passed the State Assembly the last four years in a row — this year the bill has cleared the Assembly Health Committee and a majority in both state houses support it.

"Deutsche Bank says that the 5 percent tax is justified because people who work from home 'are contributing less to the infrastructure of the economy while still receiving its benefits.'..
"The report also says the tax would only apply when governments are not advising people to work from home and would exclude self-employed people and low-income remote workers (insert a collective cheer from struggling freelancers). The tax itself would be paid by employers if they do not provide a worker with a permanent desk (see ya’ later, hot desking)."

Deutsche Bank suggests taxing remote workers to help rebuild from COVID and create a more inclusive economy.
