Over the weekend we learned that we can successfully host a 130 person wedding after a wind storm that knocked out the electricity for the ENTIRE DAY (6:30am - 11:30pm) . Huge thanks to for providing us with an extra generator for the venue AND a mini one to take to our house to keep my precious frozen breast milk safe 🫶🏼🤎

Congrats, A&D! Thanks for being so chill about the impeccably timed power outage 😎

September: an unbelievable amount of tomatoes - sent to Italian mother-in-law to batch make sauce for endless pasta dinners. The most perfect weather. Sunflowers. Hot honey successful efforts. Glimpses of spooky season. Some killer weddings. Annual reminder that we don’t eat cucumbers so we should stop growing them. Bug and dogs in tow. Oh, and apples 🍎

Madi & Wade were the very first couple to reach out and book a wedding at Wild Sugar Homestead. For that reason, and many, many other reasons, this was one of the most special weddings. They saw our vision before we had much of anything to prove to them that we were legitimate and trusted us from start to finish. 🤎 When they booked, 8/24/24 seemed so far away. Now, with their weekend over, we can’t help but feel sad to no longer receive random emails with questions and texts with exciting ideas from them. Madi & Wade, maybe, for old times sake, we can keep messaging anyway? WE LOVE YOU! 🤎🤎🤎

The way in which each couple chooses to decorate the barn continues to knock our socks off. Each time we think “this is our favorite so far,” but I think the truth is that the barn is just a really magical place and adding each individual couples’ personal touch to it just feels so special. Right now, Erik and I each have 4 hours per day to “work.” He has been spending it filing our taxes, cleaning the Airbnb, sending emails to couples, making tables and cleaning out his workshop and planning the 2024 garden & nursery. I have been spending it editing weddings from 2023 and doing some form of exercise to get my body back to a place that feels good. The rest of our day is Rowan-filled. It’s amazing what you can accomplish in 4 hours when 4 hours is all you have. BUT it doesn’t leave much time for posting. Scroll to see this years to-do list 🤎

Little, magical, winter wedding last weekend and YES your girl shot it 5 weeks postpartum. Spent 2.5 hours away from my baby and it just made me so much more eager to shoot primarily at Wild Sugar so that I can be close to her AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE 🤎

Hi 👋🏼 We have been in full baby mode for *almost* one month now and loving every second of it. While passing Rowan back and forth, editing galleries and cleaning the Airbnb, we’ve been doing lots of brainstorming and planning for 2024 & 2025.

One thing that’s been at the forefront of our minds is how to make Wild Sugar more sustainable. In September, we had the pleasure of meeting and working with Lezlee who taught us all about the commonplace use of floral foam in the wedding industry and how damaging it is to the environment.

After some of our own research and a few very negative encounters with floral foam, we have decided to fully ban the product on our property.

Our perfect baby, Rowan June, was born on 12/10 at 5lbs 10oz and 19.5 inches (STRING BEAN)!

Her birth gave us quite the scare! We went into the hospital on Sunday afternoon after experiencing a significant decrease in fetal movement. While we aren’t focusing on the what ifs that could shadow these indescribably special first days, we feel it’s important to remind parents-to-be to go into the hospital if they are experiencing ANY decrease in fetal movement or something that just doesn’t feel right. It might feel dramatic or you might be able to explain it away but “being dramatic” and getting checked out on Sunday saved our baby’s life according to our midwife. The OB who performed Hallies c-section even came to our room the day after and said “this is how still births happen” and that if we didn’t go in when we did things would have turned out very differently. (She also encouraged us to make this story public if we felt comfortable, reminding us that it could save a baby’s life!)

All that is to say, Rowan made quite the entrance and we love her SO stinkin much.

A million ‘thank yous’ to the team of women at Dartmouth Hitchcock who took care of us. Rowan is as healthy as can be and continues to hit her marks. Hallie is feeling good and recovering well too! This is a feeling like no other. We love you so much little Junebug 🤎
