My life has ben made special by my older sister Wendy. Every year she looks forward to Night to Shine with the Tim Tebow Foundation This year I had to get her into the studio before we headed to Cool Spring Baptist Church for all the celebrating one Wendy can handle! My family lost a family member this weekend. Princess Vespa, our sweet Corgi/Sheltie was the biggest supporter of L Workman Photography from the very beginning. From my first DSLR camera with the simplest of lighting setups in my makeshift home studio, she was always more than ready to model, test lighting, source new locations and keep me company through editing.
If you had a session in my home studio you likely experienced her ability to worm her way between the camera and the subjects. When your little one had a cake smash, she probably helped clean up afterwards. Four years ago to celebrate her being 15 she finally got her own cake smash with doggie cake from Sweet Chef.
She had a wonderful 19 years, 12 of them spent with our family. We spent time yesterday looking back at all the photos she sat for over the years. Capturing these times with her didn't mean as much in the moment as they do now. This is a reminder to include all members of your family in your pictures, whether taking a minute with your cell phone, including them in family portraits or scheduling a session just for them ❤

Last year marked 11 Years of Capturing Memories as L Workman Photography

Over the years I've been told that I need to pick a specialty, one thing and one style that people will know me for. My love for people and creativity made that so difficult. I always love designing the perfect session for my client's vision. With that said, there’s something about birthday photo sessions that truly holds my heart.

It means the world to me to be able to capture these milestones in a way that can be held on to, treasured forever. When you chose me to help celebrate these small (or huge) moments, I pour myself into helping you find the perfect theme, decor, cake and atmosphere. Looking back at some of the amazing sessions over the past few years always fills me with joy. Truth be told, I can’t call any one session my favorite – because each new one is just as special as the last!

Ending the Holiday Season on a High Note with Adnet Inc.!

This weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing my final holiday event for the season, and what a celebration it was! Holiday Inn Newport News - Hampton truly knows how to throw a party that helps unwind from the stress of the holidays. From a delicious dinner and tons of games, prizes, and dancing, energy to make me wish I worked with them all.

It was extra special to capture the moments of employers giving awards and recognition for the past year—such an amazing reminder of all the innovative achievements this incredible team contributes to bigger missions.
Everyone was dressed to impress on the dance floor where DJ Vossome Music kept the fun going with singing and dancing all night long! It’s always such a joy to document these moments of celebration and togetherness in the workplace, I appreciate Adnet Inc for letting me be part of their festivities! Here's to even more success and memories in the year ahead!

For some the holiday season officially starts when the tree goes up and ends when the tree comes down. My friend Megan would be happiest if the house stayed decorated all year! For years, I’ve had the privilege of working with Megan Stewart, Realtor, a talented realtor who goes above and beyond for her clients. Once again this holiday season, she treated her real estate clients to special holiday photography sessions, and I’m honored to be part of it!

It’s so wonderful to collaborate with small businesses like Megan’s, who truly care about making their clients feel valued and appreciated. Whether it’s a cozy family portrait or a festive couples shot, these sessions are a beautiful way to give a little extra joy this time of year.

Thank you, Megan, for trusting me with your clients’ memories year after year! Here’s to many more years of holiday magic and client appreciation!

🎄✨ Christmas Cheer in the Studio with Little Spencer & Milo! ✨🎄

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing this beautiful family this holiday season, and let me tell you—Spencer's adorable cheeks and curls are enough to melt anyone's heart! And don't even get me started on his fluffy sidekick, Milo—such a good boy and the perfect addition to this festive session!
It’s so special to photograph friends, especially when they’re not only clients but also teammates (shoutout to my roller derby friend and her adorable crew!).

It feels like just yesterday I was capturing your Graysons first fmoments, he's gotten so big already, full of energy, personality, and love. Being able to see this family grow and change every year has been such a privilege.

Capturing these milestones for families I’ve known for so long truly warms my heart. Watching little ones grow up in front of my lens is a reminder of how precious time is.

Traditional is all fine and well but I'm always up for out of the box! Always remember that when I advertise a particular setup you can always ask me what other options there are. This year I had not one but two awkward family portrait sessions and they were both so much fun!
This family absolutely has my heart and these sweet boys are always such a joy. A few years ago Kaitlyn inspired my retro colorful Christmas setup and this year they came with fun holiday sweaters and impressed me with their ability to pose like these ideas were natural 🤣

Little personalities are so much fun! Zayden was so unsure for a lot of his first birthday session earlier in the year but he was his own little person this time around. We had the best time playing with plastic ornaments, jingle bells and all the other amazing props! The best part about booking a session and not a "mini" is that I do my best not to limit our time. Sometimes young ones take awhile to warm up and a lot of time interacting to truly capture their character. Being a mom myself I know that every child and every day is impossible to predict when they are in a new situation but we're going to have some fun.

It's a whole new year! And with that comes so many more memories. There is nothing that I love more than seeing the same beautiful faces year after year. I first met Olivia 8 years ago and watching her grow has been life changing. Jumping, silly faces, bouncing on beds, playing with snow, and confetti are just a few of the fun things that I have come to expect from her as she helps me decide her own vision for photos.

Is it still Christmas season if you haven't taken down your tree? The holidays is such a busy and chaotic time of year for small business owners and sometimes it takes awhile to finally get in that relaxing deep breath.
This year I was honored with the opportunity to work with a number of local businesses as they celebrated the holidays with their clients. When Hampton Roads Harley-Davidson asked me to capture their visit from Santa I may have squealed with joy. When you shop at Harley here in you aren't just a customer, you become family! And I love the way they celebrate with their family. From Santa and his elf, the beautiful bike he rides (such a trade up from the sleigh), the beautiful decor to the victorian carols sung by The Doorway Singers , the atmosphere was more than perfect for sharing your Christmas list or buying the perfect gift.
I look forward to the opportunity to working with everyone there again soon!

The holiday break is coming to an end (for some it has already ended) and the new year has begun.
I want to take the time to thank everyone who took the time and investment this holiday to entrust me with your family and memories. My business depends on every session and and all my amazing clients, friends, family, clients that become friends and family ❤
If you had in mind to do Christmas photos but life took over and you didn't make it, I do still have the studio all made up and available, just let me know ASAP if you want to make it in before I start dismantling and taking everything back to storage.
