Please join us this Sunday to celebrate the sesquicentennial anniversary of the Wittemberg Church building! We will be serving beef chili, white chicken chili, and potato soup, breads, relishes, pies and assorted desserts. Your free will donation is appreciated to help maintain this historic landmark. Thank you to everyone who attended the ice cream social last Thursday! It was one of our biggest events yet, serving over 215 people. We received tremendous community support and generous donations to help finance the steeple repair. We can't wait for the next ice cream social!

The ice cream machine is hard at work today making two different flavors for the ice cream social at the Wittemberg Church tonight from 5:00-7:00. Stop by to try the homemade vanilla or mint chocolate chip flavors!

Two weeks ago, 27 tornadoes ripped through central Iowa. While our friends in Marshalltown, Pella, and Bondurant were hardest hit, the Wittemberg Church was not left unscathed. The Cross that sits on top of the steeple was blown down, and it punctured a hole in the roof. We are happy to announce no one was injured, and we, like all our fellow Iowans, can rebuild.

This Thursday, August 9th, we are hosting an ice cream social. Please join us, not only for the great company, but to see the progress in rebuilding. Your free will donation will be used to help fund the steeple repair.

Both the Wittemberg Church and the cemetery are recognized by the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom as having served as a sanctuary for escaped slaves in the 1850s and 1860s.

A small sample of some of the beautiful flowers you can find outside the Wittemberg Church. The grounds are lovingly maintained by two local couples passionate about preserving this historically important building.
