Wanted to start of the year throwing a huge shoutout to a new little gem I just discovered for all my GF/Celiacs out there! Cookie Cake Bakery - Kasia
She’s located in Mt. Prospect and is a fully GF home kitchen and her stuff is AMAZING! Everything I’ve tried has been delicious. Fresh and full of flavor. Her cream puffs are amazing, macarons are heaven! They don’t taste GF at all! I shared with Hubby (even though I don’t share food) and even he loved them!
Definitely has 5 Mona stars across the board!

Well friends it seems that Christmas has left building once again and we are left in that in between week of “what just happened?” and “Quick the new year is coming and we have t-minus 6 days to prepare for it!”

What is chocolate salami? I get that question so often. It is a European holiday traditional dessert that dates back for generations. It is a delicious chocolate fudge roll with petit beurre cookies crushed in. It can come in three ways. Plain, with a hint of Rum or Orange liqueur.. Just for fun, we wrap it in butcher paper just like a salami for presentation purposes.
This is a perfect gift to bring to guests or keep for Christmas dessert for the family. To serve you simply slice it and serve.

Last night, I had the wonderful privilege and honor to do a grazing table for an event at my old Alma Mater Northeastern Illinois University. We are so grateful for the opportunity and want to take the opportunity to bring on a great announcement!
I have been wanting to rebrand Mona’s in a way that won’t kill me. So with that, I would like to introduce you to a division of Mona’s Sweet Spot called GRAZE. It will be a focus mainly on savory delights and less on sweets.

Ok,ok we know we’ve been gone way too long and we definitely have missed you all! But we definitely didn’t forget about you! I promised so many of you that if Mona starts feeling better I will convince her to do some goodies and I know many have reached out asking about our apple cider donuts… So.. (drumroll please!) for a limited time ONLY Mona’s famous apple cider donuts will be available for pickup (delivery for bigger orders) in NILES..
preorders are required as she is only taking a limited amount of orders at a time. (she is doing better but she still needs to be careful not to over do it and we are monitoring her closely)
Our boys have offered to help her with the baking part so our house is excited for her to be back temporarily for the holidays at least!
For now we are focusing only on donut orders only (custom cakes if you reach out) but as we get closer to the holidays she is thinking she will offer pies and savory charcuterie boards only..
We don’t know how long her good days will last so definitely get on her schedule now so she can prepare herself! (She has to take certain meds to work with flour)

It’s Pastor Appreciation Month! I had the privilege of being asked to create a cake for some really special people in my life. So grateful for each and every one of them!
The characters aren’t perfect as my modeling chocolate chose not to comply with me this weekend. We still got a huge kick out of it
It all started 10 years ago in the small space called “my kitchen”. My son’s birthday was around the corner and he had only one request. Toy story cupcakes... Well being the adventurous kind who always takes on the challenge, I made those cupcakes and it brought on an itch that needed to be scratched... with a spatula and a mixer!
It was then that I took all that my mother ever taught me growing up and everything I learned off my biggest admirer The Cake Boss and turned it into the biggest passion of my life. And that was when Mona’s Sweet Spot was born!
For the last 9 years I worked out of 2 home kitchens. Perfected my recipes and my craft and created a brand that I call my own! I mastered my crafts through classes, online techniques and lots of hands on practice!
Now, we are beginning a new chapter with a storefront cake and dessert studio where you can come and purchase your very own Mona-made couture edible art.
My custom cakes, cupcakes and sweets waiting to be devoured and savored down to the last crumb. It’s not just a hobby or a baking fever. My desserts are second to none and are freshly baked and hand created. My dream has always been to own that bakery that everyone comes to for their special needs. It’s that special place that just hits that sweet spot every single time.
