Today (10/13) the MURAL by artist Trevor Lucas at 35th and Colley will be dedicated at 4:00 p.m. We are encouraging all Civic League Members who are available to attend and join us along with City staff and members of the public.

This will be a great opportunity to showcase the artwork, connect with neighbors and highlight the great work that is going on in Park Place. We hope that you are able to attend and we plan to take a photo after the dedication. We can't wait to see you there!

Join us on May 20 from 4-6 pm to celebrate the YMCA on Granby 10th Birthday with a block party. There will be food, fun, and as an EXTRA special treat, our pool will be open! We will also be digging up our time capsule. There will also be a no-join-fee special in person only. No need to RSVP! Stop by to join the fun. Bring your friends and neighbors! Greetings Park Place Civic League Members & Guests,

Park Place Civic League needs your help. Our second Keep Norfolk Beautiful event is coming up at the end of the month and we need volunteers!

It is time for the quarterly cleanup of our Adopt A Spot areas. This will take place on Saturday March 25th at 11am. Rain date is the following weekend. This is an opportunity to make your community shine and sparkle. Everything you need (gloves, bags, grabbers etc.) to clean our space will be provided. The great thing about this event is, the more the merrier and quicker. The more neighbors assisting with this one, the quicker time moves. You do not have to be a Park Place Civic League Member to participate.

If you have time to help, please send a reply back to this post no later than Friday March 24th, 6pm. We will add your name to the list. The Hospitality & Activities' Co-Chair will be in touch with you with more information.

The tree canopy in Park Place is improving! We have been advocating for this consistently. This one example of many of how when we come together with a plan as a community, change is possible.

Next question: How do we keep these trees watered for the first two years while they root? This exact planting job was done two years ago and they didn't survive. What will we do differently now?

Greetings PPCL Members,
January 16, 2023 is Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service. In addition to activities occurring all over the city, there are opportunities to serve in our own neighborhood. Volunteers are needed to beautify our neighborhood. This is an opportunity to make our community shine and sparkle. This event will not be connected with our Adopt a Spot/KNB initiative. ALL ARE WELCOME! Light refreshments and water will be provided by the Park Place Civic League.
Charles Johnson will lead beautification at Colonial Avenue Park from 1-2pm. Everything needed (gloves, bags, grabbers etc.) to clean our space will be provided...
We are also encouraging everyone to select an area in your block or home and beautify it. Service happens outside and inside the home. Send pictures back to us to post on social media if you like.

PPCL & HNE donated Rosebush planted in Colonial Avenue Park for Mrs. Mildred Ester Johnson, 1967-2022 civic league member. Thanks to present & past members, daughter & friend who came out(11/3) for a "lovely, lovely, lovely" memorial.
