When I delivered the floral wreath for the Alaska Airlines MEC (Master Executive Council) yesterday, it was snowing. Such a contrast to the bright flowers, but it was a perfect setting.
I’m always honored to be asked to design the MEC’s flowers in remembrance of the crew & passengers of Flight 261.

The funniest comment I heard was: ‘You’re our hero b/c you use magnets to hold the boutonnière in place not pins. Yeah! The guys won’t get stabbed with pins!’😂
I love when boys order flowers for their Mamas. When they ask me to do something special and pretty. Flowers that aren’t fussy looking because their Mama likes simple.

Sympathy flowers have always been emotional for me to design. Being a floral designer, to me, means listening to what message your client wants to convey using flowers. On February 14th a dear family friend’s father passed away. She asked if I could do the flowers for his private family memorial service that was held yesterday.
I was asked to used white flowers & accented with just a little blue. I hope I was able to capture & convey simple beauty and Stanley’s love of the outdoors by using ferns, greens, willow branches, allium, hyacinth & various white flowers.

Layers of Vendela & Vivienne roses complimented with White Dendrobium Orchids and a touch of Eucalyptus. A floral request from a young man to his Mom. Her birthday is on Valentine’s day & he lives in NYC & she lives here. So very sweet.
This is for a new client for me, so I hope I got her request right! She wanted to send her sister flowers that looked like a green salad. That’s a first for me! I used ornamental cabbage & layered with greens, accented with chartreuse green Cymbidium orchids. Not sure what the whole ‘salad’ thing is about, but my job is to interpret & design. I hope she likes it!

I’ve retired from designing wedding flowers. (Well.....I still help out my family & a few friends with their weddings.)
These days, I focus on individual floral orders & a corporate clients. I do miss the many Brides I’ve met over the years & sharing in their special day. Many of my Brides have given me Glassy Babies as a ‘thank you’ for designing their wedding florals. I have quite a beautiful collection! Originally created for a client, but then she changed her design direction and asked for a more a more colorful floral combination. I rarely display anything floral in my home, instead I’ve opted for family photos, and original artwork created by my family & friends. Maybe this wreath will stay here for now.

We had such a positive & successful event supporting local businesses & most owned by women, that we’re doing it again. On the last page of these photos posted is a list of the businesses participating. Directions on ‘how to order’ , pay & pick up are included too. Masks required & social distancing rules will be followed during pick up.

I know Thanksgiving is different for everyone this year. It is for my family. Our celebration is very small & intimate compared to years past when our entire clan would gather. This year my table decor includes a candle holder made from a wine barrel from Eastern WA given to me a few years back by & my beautiful new napkins from . An informal setting made very special by these items & my beautiful table that my husband made for us. Happy, Happy Thanksgiving Friends! Love & Miss you all!
