The building is 100% carbon neutral and is equipped with Meyer Sound’s state-of-the-art Constellation System.

📢FALL SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT📢The FreshGrass Institute presents its first full season of programming from its Studio 9 home at The Porches Inn in North Adams, featuring a week-long, immersive Banjo Basecamp led by Grammy Award-winning Alison Brown, an album release celebration with legacy folk rockers The Mammals, and a simulcast of Yo-Yo Ma’s We The People, highlighting FGI’s commitment to creative expression and its breadth of productions, presentations, and partnerships. After a week-long creative residency at Studio 9, DAVÓNE TINES & THE TRUTH will share bits and pieces of developmental work rooted in themes of love, healing, generational trauma, and communal release, this work-in-progress showing reflects their process of expanding early ideas into musical themes, and structures for their new studio album called “Nature Boy” during their time in residence.

Almost every week, our stage comes alive with a symphony of diverse talents, from seasoned virtuosos to emerging performers. Our cutting-edge facilities ensure an immersive experience for both performers and audience, with top-notch acoustics that elevate every note, word, and joke to its full potential. All are welcome! Maya Shaw is a New York–based singer-songwriter and pianist whose music blends cinematic emotion with vintage elegance. Drawing comparisons to artists like Nancy Sinatra and Lana Del Rey, her sound is dreamy, poetic, and deeply heartfelt.

Maya will be joined by Cate Byrne, an eclectic violinist/fiddler, and native Berkshires resident. Cate holds a degree in Contemporary Improvisation from New England Conservatory of Music, and has enjoyed playing violin for the past 21 years. She now resides in Brooklyn, where she frequently performs a variety of musical genres.
