Icon of the Seas ~ Day 6 ~ Halloween 🎃

This was the first Halloween celebration for Icon of the Seas and they did an amazing job! They decorated the ship, overnight, and brought out pumpkins that had been carved by guests during the week and kids from the kids club to display in Windjammers (buffet). This was a sea day for us which made the day even better because we got to spend the entire day on board enjoying all the Halloween themed activities Royal Caribbean had planned.

I finally got to see Rover!!! She’s the Chief Executive Dog Officer on board Icon. She’s lived on the ship since she was a puppy and is now almost 1.5 yrs old. I’ve been looking for her since boarding but it’s a large ship and she only comes out for a few hours a day as to not overwhelm her. She was part of an entertainment Q&A and was definitely the star of the show. We’re not going to talk about how my mom has seen her 3 times already and got to pet her (she’s not even a dog person 🙄).

We then went and played bingo to see what all the hype was about. Someone did win $1000 but it sadly wasn’t us.

We spent the evening enjoying taking some photos, Halloween themed drinks, watching Phoenix again and meeting the lead singer, gambling in the casino, & being startled in the haunted house created overnight by the crew.

Sadly we missed the Thriller flash mob and costume contest due to being at other activities. There was also trick-or-treating on board as well and so many people dressed up for the day.

If you’re worried about sailing over a holiday because it just won’t feel as festive, that’s 100% not an issue. Most cruise lines are going to have holiday decorations and themed activities to make the day special. 🎄🦃🎃

Icon of the Seas ~ Day 5

Today we ported in Cozumel, Mexico. I’ve been to this port a few times so we didn’t schedule any excursions here this time. Instead we just got off and walked around the shops a bit and then enjoyed the ship with fewer guests while they were on excursions. We spent time at Hideaway (adult only area) as well as checking out the waterslides in Thrill Island. Both were awesome in their own way and unique to the Icon.

Icon of the Seas ~ Day 4

Today we docked in Costa Maya, Mexico. Joe & I took a 50 min bus transfer to see the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. This was worth the long transfer, in my opinion. We were the first bus to arrive which allowed us to see several ruins prior to other groups arriving. We were able to climb certain areas which was really cool. By the time we left there were several more buses and a lot more people so I’m glad we got photos early without a lot of other people in them.

We then walk around the port shops and then headed back to the ship to relax.

After dinner we enjoyed an amazing ice show based on the elements on the periodic table. It seemed like an odd concept but the songs and skating were really great and there were so many backflips on ice!!!! I’m always amazed at all the effects and skating skills they bring to a cruise ship!

Icon of the Seas ~ Day 3

Today we ported in Roatan, Honduras. Joe and I booked a Monkey & Sloth excursion through Royal Caribbean. We had some time to walk around the port shopping area before heading to our excursion shuttle.

On our excursion at Manawakie Park we were able to hold a sloth 🦥, macaws, & monkeys 🐒. The monkeys just roamed around and jumped from person to person. They also were experts at removing items from pockets so it was recommended not to bring items into the enclosure.

Once back on the ship we headed and grabbed lunch and then a few drinks 🍹🥃 while relaxing on the ship. We then headed to Sorrento’s to grab a piece of pizza to hold us over until dinner. I love that we don’t pay extra to grab a snack on the ship because it’s included 🍕

After dinner in the main dining room we headed to the Music Hall 🎼 to watch Phoenix 🎸 perform again. This night was a different set but just as good!

After listening to Phoenix mom, me, & Karen headed down to the Pearl on the main promenade for the silent disco 🎧 party. This was super popular and we even had to wait for headphones as they were all in use when we got there. If you’ve never been to a silent disco, I highly recommend it. This was my 5th one and I can’t wait for my 6th!
