Charleston County Parks will reopen additional parks starting, Friday May 8. These parks will be open for activities such as running, walking and biking on designated trails. Charleston County Parks staff will be on hand within the parks to ensure that guests are following social distancing guidelines and not using closed amenities.

For the safety of our staff and visitors, Charleston County Parks restrooms, showers, playgrounds, off-leash dog parks, spray play areas, retail and food operations and rentals will be closed and lifeguards will not be on duty. Please plan your visit accordingly. Additional parks and amenities will open in the coming weeks.

Access restrictions and checkpoints will be removed starting this Wednesday, May 6. On Monday, during an emergency meeting, City Council voted to accelerate the opening of checkpoints with a vote of 6-3.

Isle of Palms County Park will reopen on Wednesday, May 6 for walking and exercise only. Lifeguards will not be on duty. The restrooms, showers, playground, picnic tables, food and rentals will remain closed. Activities consistent with our “keep it moving” guidelines will be permitted. Charleston County Parks staff will be on hand within the park to ensure that guests are following social distancing guidelines and not using closed amenities.

The safety of our guests is our primary concern during this crisis. Here are a few of the steps we're taking in order to safeguard your health:

- Installed barriers to maintain appropriate distance during transactions.

- Installed a hand sanitizing station at check-in desk.

- Front desk area is cleaned and sanitized after every transaction.

- All hotel representatives and cleaning staff are wearing appropriate PPE, when available.

- Hotel cleaning staff kept to a minimum in order to limit interaction with guests.

- Cash transactions are discouraged, while still accepted.

- For guests staying multiple nights, toiletries and clean towels will be delivered on a daily basis in place of daily cleaning. Daily service is still available, upon request.

- Whenever possible, rooms are left vacant for several days between reservations.

- Floor and room availability regularly rotated to help minimize possible exposure.

- We will only be serving pre-packaged breakfast items.

- Drop-off station for room keys at the front desk. Keys are sanitized overnight before reuse.

- All public places are closed until further notice, including the fitness center, pool and lobby lounge areas.

The Hugs for Harper Endowment is a foundation established in Honor of Harper Drolet who was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a very rare form of pediatric soft tissue cell cancer at the age of 9. Unfortunately, Harper lost her battle at the age of 11. The purpose for the endowment is to raise money and provide grants to a local medical research center inspiring to find a cure. The endowment will also provide grants to other local organizations or charities Harper supported. Please drop in at the Wingate to help.
