Minister. Mother. Nature Lover. Living and working in beautiful Rhode Island. 🌊 ❤️🙏🏼
(12)
I am an interfaith minister and wedding officiant in beautiful Southern Rhode Island. As an Interfaith Minister, it is my honor to serve individuals, couples, and families of all faiths, multiple faiths and no faith, as well as the “spiritual but not religious,” during times of celebration, sorrow, transition and reflection.
Six years ago we lived in a two-bedroom apartment. I slept on a daybed in the living room so my kids could have their own rooms upstairs. This string of colored lights strewn across the front lawn was all I could manage.
I shared it on Facebook and said: “I call this holiday installation piece “making merry with what we have on hand.” And also “at least she finally took the pumpkins off the front steps.” Try not to be too jealous of my magic. 😂🎄✨”
This year my fiancé spent the better part of last Saturday wrapping warm white twinkle lights around our front porch and weaving them along the fences we built together.
All week I have been using this beautiful display as a reminder to pause, breathe, and unplug from the frenzy of the outside world so I can be present with my family and savor the wonder and magic of this sacred time of year.
Six years ago this strand of haphazardly strewn lights that we had to step over to enter our too-small apartment served the very same purpose.
❤️🙏🏼✨🎄

“In the second light of Advent shine The plants and the berries on the vine, The green grass and the lovely tree, And all the flowers that we see. Now the plants are on the earth, Waiting for the Christ Child’s birth.” 🌲✨ -Waldorf Advent Verse

The months of December, January and February have challenged my mental health for as long as I can remember, at times in very painful and frightening ways.
✨What I have learned over the last 50 years is that for me to be healthy and well during this season I have to be VERY intentional about what I allow into my mind, my heart, my home, and my body.
✨I feel better with less caffeine, less sugar, less alcohol, less noise, less driving, less fluorescent lights, less external chaos, less rushing around.
✨I feel better with more nourishing foods, more mindfulness, more soft lights, more quiet connection, more early bedtimes, more slow mornings, more time in nature and more intentional allocation of my time, energy, and attention.
✨I used to feel embarrassed and ashamed of my “limitations” and my inability to “be normal,” but I no longer have time for that mindset. What matters most to me is being healthy and well - for myself, for my loved ones, for my community, and for my clients - and I have become a fierce self-advocate to respect and protect my boundaries, which has had a huge positive impact on how I experience these winter months.
How about you? What do you need to be healthy and well this season? This week? This day? This hour? What is one small step you can take to create that? ❤️🙏🏼💫

December 1 in my gardens. ✨Watching videos about gardening, while flipping through books and magazines about gardening, while texting with about gardening … 📚 🤓🌱
This fall I’ve been deep in design and planning mode - in my gardens, in creating a meaningful wedding celebration with my partner, in supporting my son through the college application process, in continuing to integrate and nurture our blended family of six, and in getting as clear as I can on what is most important to me personally and professionally in this decade of my life.
There have been plenty of tears and fears and “WTF!!!??” moments as I attempt to process the election results locally, regionally, and nationally. And hard conversations about values, freedoms, choices, safety, empathy, compassion, mental health and loving boundaries. There have been daily walks in the woods to clear my head, catch my breath, and recenter. And ridiculously silly laugh-out-loud moments with coworkers, neighbors, family and friends.
And many softly whispered, heartfelt prayers, my favorite being when I am holding hands with my partner Tim and we press our foreheads together and say:
“God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen.”
Wherever you find yourself on this first day of December, I am thinking of you, and wishing you moments of serenity, courage, wisdom, clarity and peace. 🙏🏼❤️ xo ~Rev. Erin

Zekey Update :: Back in June, I noticed Zeke limping, which lead to the discovery of a hard lump near his shoulder.
While we were away on Cape Cod celebrating our engagement, my dad took him to see our wonderful vet, which began weeks of tests and tearful conversations about treatment options.
This week we had a surgical consult and scheduled amputation of Zeke’s affected leg. All three veterinarians who have reviewed his case, believe this surgery will allow him to make a full recovery and have an excellent quality of life. ❤️
It has been quite a rollercoaster of emotions over the past month as we walked through each round of testing with the possibility of life-ending-illness looming at each turn.
Zeke (Zekey, Zippy, Zipper, Zeke-a-doo…) came into our lives as a puppy five years ago, just a few weeks after we moved into our new home, and just a few weeks before I met my now-fiancée, which is to say he has been a very important part of our family’s “new beginning.”
Our surgeon says that Zeke is an “ideal candidate” for this surgery and that the loss of his leg will have very little impact on his day-to-day functioning after he heals. It also means that we will most likely get to have many more years to enjoy life with our best bub. ❤️🐶🙏🏼

Early July in the garden. 🌱✨🌺 // Thank you for sharing in the joy of our engagement, which happened in the beautiful gardens of . We came home to our own gardens exploding with honeysuckle, lily, and hydrangea blooms. And so many hummingbirds!! I’m continuing to dig out grass and replace with native plants. And we’re all loving on our sweet Zeke, who’s struggling with his health. So yeah, right now is life, the full spectrum of it, in a backdrop of beautiful gardens.💕🙏🏼

What Clients are saying about Rev. Erin:
“Erin is a very warm open loving person who brought a great personal touch and real warmth to a private funeral service for my sister. Highly recommend her.” -Jim M.
“We booked Erin to officiate our ceremony as well as to provide us with some pre-marital counseling, and we can say that Erin is the absolute best. She works tirelessly with you to make sure that you have exactly the ceremony you want to have, and that you're completely comfortable with everything. It was nice that we were able to have get-to-know-you sessions, and even though we live in another state and could really only do things through Skype, she was flexible with timing and we were able to get to know one another a little bit before diving into wedding stuff.
The day of went smoothly (Erin thought of everything, including print outs for the readings!) and was simply beautiful. I can't say enough good things about her or about how I felt the ceremony went. She's super calm and welcoming, and having her up there with us really helped to keep the stress level down because of her friendly demeanor. Everything was perfect, and I really appreciated her hard work for making it special and perfect for us.” -Alyssa A.
