For the first time in school history North Kingstown wrestling won the Freshmen State Tournament. The NK freshmen squad placed 4th or better in 8 of 15 weight classes, edging out Scituate by 11.5 points!!!

NK hosted its first ever girls only wrestling tournament today! The TK Girls Invitational was the event Takara Clayborne put together for her senior project. With some help from her coaches and her team, the invitational consisted of 16 teams from MA and RI and immediately became the largest girls only wrestling tournament in RI.

The three girls from NK took third as a team overall, placing all of our wrestlers.

Irie Byers - 1st place at 120lbs also awarded Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament

Julissa King - 2nd place at 145lbs

Takara Clayborne - 3rd place at 100lbs

NK girls wrestled in Central Falls today.

Irie Byers finished 3rd, Takara Clayborne finished in 2nd and Julissa King placed 1st!

Overall the team finished in third!!!

The team wrestled at Coventry today scoring a win against EG, a tie with Coventry and a loss to Bishop Hendricken. A huge day for our young wrestlers. Mason Barbosa went undefeated (5-0) on the day!

Our Heavyweight, Kaz Morosetti, had himself a long day of wrestling at the Eastern State Classic in upstate NY. Making it all the way to the semi-finals and losing a tough one, 4-3, to the eventual runner-up, winning a consi-semis match and then losing in OT to place 4th in a LARGE field of elite wrestling!

Kaz Morosetti makes his Eastern States Classic debut as the 6th seed at 285. He ends day 1 with a record of 2-0, advancing to the quarter finals against the 3rd seed, and returning NY state placer. Morosetti has pinned both opponents so far.

Action begins tomorrow at 9:15am. Matches are live on floarena. Kaz will wrestle at roughly 10:30-11am.

Good luck to the rest of the squad wrestling at the Coventry Superquad tomorrow!

Mason Barbosa took third at 106lbs and Ryan White finished third at 285lbs! The team finished 7th overall out of a field of 16. A great learning experience for this young team!

Great day of hard wrestling at the Danbury Holiday Tournament! Placed 6th as a team and had 3 individual placers:

-106 Mason Barbosa 3rd place
-132 Mason D’Arezzo 4th place
-285 Kaz Morosetti 1st place

The team as a whole is coming together, with many weight changes, and young freshmen stepping up and wrestling like veterans. The hard work from two practices a day last week reaped great results.
