The harsh reality of violence feels different when it hits this close to home, in a state we love, in a community so many of us live, work, learn, and gather in every day. The shooting at Brown has shaken all of us.

At APAD, we stand in support of our friends, clients, family members, university students, educators, and colleagues who have been directly and indirectly affected by this tragic incident. We are holding space for grief, fear, and unanswered questions, and we are thinking especially of those whose sense of safety was disrupted in a place meant for learning and community.

Rhode Island is small, and that closeness means we feel these moments deeply. We are sending strength, compassion, and solidarity to everyone impacted, and we hope for healing, accountability, and peace in the days ahead.
