Concerning Pumpkins:

We had our first snow over the weekend! So this is your annual reminder that those pumpkins on your front porch are FOOD. NOT TRASH.

If you're already starting to ditch the squash for some evergreen (I'm only judging you a little bit) please remember not to send your pumpkins to the landfill. A collective 1.3 BILLION POUNDS of American pumpkins get thrown into landfills each year. That's absolutely nuts. You guys know how I feel about organic matter ending up in landfills, so I'm not going to go on and on about it again.

Things to do with your pumpkins instead of tossing them:

1. Eat them! The answer is yes, the pumpkin on your porch is edible. As long as it's a squash not a gourd, it will be tasty! No matter what shape or color it is. Just halve your pumpkin, roast it skin side up until fork tender, then puree to make everything from granola to pie to muffins. It freezes beautifully.

2. Feed the wildlife! Toss them in a field, a woods, even a ditch. Almost all herbivores and omnivores love pumpkins, and they are super nutrient rich and helps the critters pack on the winter weight. The rabbits, mice, deer, squirrels, chipmunks and decomposers will all love you for it.

3. Bring them to my house! Or any other farm/homestead with livestock. Pigs, sheep, horses, cows, chickens (especially chickens) also love pumpkins. They're good for their guts and a great food source.

4. Compost them. Or toss them at the edge of your property to decompose. Just please, please, please don't throw them in the trash.

I will happily answer any questions you have about your pumpkins before I climb off this soapbox!

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

BOUQUET PICK-UP!
Wednesday July 21

Hey everyone! I'm FINALLY offering another bouquet pick-up on Wednesday morning.
I know it's been a while!

So what is a bouquet pick-up?
I've never actually explained this in detail on here!
I'm a farmer-florist, meaning I grow and arrange flowers that I use in wedding and event work. I have fantastic brides who trust me to use the best of what's in season to fill their wedding day with gorgeous 100% local blooms.

Sometimes, these weddings use nearly every bloom I have (like the past month) and sometimes I'm over flowing with extra flowers (like this week!)

So bouquet pick-up days are when I pass this extra beauty on to you in the form of paper-wrapped bunches of blooms. It's 100% self-serve, meaning I won't likely be there when you come by, so you can come ANY TIME throughout the day. If you want to be sure to snag one, I can reserve one with your name on it. (P.S. If you reserve a bouquet, PLEASE make sure you A: Actually come get it! And B: Take the one reserved for you. Swapping from the non-reserved buckets is fine, just place your reserved bunch back into the non-reserved bucket for someone else to enjoy!)

Details:
Wednesday morning pick-up any time after 10 am at
$15/bunch

I'm sooo ready for spring blooms!

It all feels so close, yet so far away. The crocuses and snowdrops are pushing out of the ground and the hellebores are on their way. You can almost feel the life in the high tunnel, getting ready to burst with color.

Oh, the waiting. Seasonal shifts are so exciting!!

Remembering this windy farm-meets-fairytale wedding from late October.

I loved this bouquet full of interesting textural elements. Post-frost weddings are exciting and stretching since I can't rely on tons of big showy blooms for impact. Fortunately, Audrey loves dried flowers and grasses! She spent years growing, harvesting and drying the lavender she used for her wedding. It was so special to weave those blooms with wheat from her fiancee's fields and elements I foraged from her family's farm. Add in my last surviving dahlias, strawflowers and gomphrena from the high tunnel, and you get the loveliest rustic, lavender-inspired color palette with the best textures!
Every season has it, folks. You just have to look.

Also, this one is extra special because this insanely gorgeous bride is my sister-in-law! (Swipe to see me in full bridesmaid mode πŸ‘‰)

Sooo in love with this flowering cabbage + heirloom mum combination! (The mums are from ) took this amazing shot of the styled table at Saturday's Local Makers & Growers Market.

And by the way, the market was amazing. So many of you showed up to support your local community of creatives. My heart was so full, and my body was sooo tired. You know, the kind of tired that pairs pride and euphoria and hard-work-exhaustion that feels amazing, but the next day you feel run over by a truck? It's a very unique feeling, and I'm so, so grateful.

By the way, I spontaneously decided to have some flower bunches available for pick-up tomorrow (Wednesday) , and there are still more turkeys! Don't forget to pick up your bread loaves for those who preordered them too! If you want me to reserve something for you, comment below or DM me.

Ever been to a floral potluck? Basically, it's where you bring a bucket of flowers from your garden, we put them all on a table, and everyone takes what they like to create a lovely arrangement to take home.
Pressure level = extremely low.
It's just a fun networking/hang out time with other flower loving friends.

Find all the details below!
(Sorry I'm just now sharing this here! I'm the worst! πŸ™ˆ)
We're finally back with a new event! ☺️🌻
Floral Potluck
Saturday, September 29 from 1-3pm at Heritage Farm 13777 Arnold Rd, Dalton

One of our Seasonal Collective members just got married (congrats Shonda!) so instead of our usual full blown design workshop, we are planning a more laid back event.

We invite everyone to bring:
β€’ a bucket of flowers/greens from your garden
β€’ a vessel or two for arranging
β€’ a pair of your favorite snips
β€’ a seasonal snack to share

We will provide a basic design demo, some fun flowers from our gardens (hello dahlia season!) and garden tea to go along with the snacks.
Whether you're a professional or a beginner with flowers, you can come enjoy an afternoon of connecting, learning, and of course beautiful flowers.

Cost is $10/person. Please RSVP to Karen Geiser at [email protected]
or 330 857-1995 by Thursday, September 27. Pay when you arrive.

Spring was a little late this Mother's Day, but I'm not even mad because that means lilacs, hellebores, dogwood and snowball viburnum get to party with the ranunculus and anemones this year. And they had a mighty fine time together.
To everyone who ordered this year, thank you for supporting your local flower farmer. You're making a difference! β™₯
Also, Adrienne Ge**er Photography (as always) making my flowers look so, so good. Thank you friend!

MOTHER'S DAY
Ok children and fathers, it's time to get some fresh, local flowers into your mama's hands. If you don't know this already, freshly cut flowers are so much more beautiful, ethical, and sustainable than your typical floral shop fare. Like these hellebores, HELLO.
