Through its facilities, ACT also seeks to strengthen cooperation among non-profits within the community. Funds generated by ACT events will be turned back into the community and the state of Arkansas through grants for artistic organizations and student scholarships. Continuing education and entertainment for all ages will be presented by ACT through professional quality live productions. The stra

tegic building design is such that any type of event for a maximum of 300 people can be accommodated, and the black-box theater allows flexible staging techniques for smaller theater companies. ACT will feature local, regional, and national productions, book readings, private and business events. ACT reserves the right to delete comments that contain profanity, misinformation, or otherwise violate our community standards.

✨ Big news at ACT! ✨

North Little Rock Theater favorites Pris Benson and Carol Ann McAdams, namesakes of the ACT Academy, will direct the upcoming production of “A Christmas Story.” Combined, they have more than 40 years as theater educators and directors at North Little Rock High School.

“Pris and Carol Ann are the standard bearers for theater excellence in NLR. I’m honored they’ll be joining us here at ACT for Christmas,” said Artistic Director Coburn Goss.

While at Northeast High School and later, North Little Rock High School, Benson and McAdams created the largest communication, theater, dance and competitive speech program in the state. They partnered to produce large Broadway-like musicals that involved hundreds of students for each production. Their vision was to create a program that welcomed all students and strived to provide opportunities for them to experience success and excellence. Their involvement with the arts extended to their professional association with the Arkansas Communication and Theatre Arts Association (ACTAA) where they served in multiple leadership roles for 40 years helping to develop other speech and theatre programs around the state. Upon their retirement, ACTAA members presented them both with Lifetime Achievement Awards.

“We have always loved what ACT represents involving this community to create meaningful theater for central Arkansas. We were thrilled to learn that the board hired Coburn Goss - a North Little Rock graduate who has distinguished himself in the arts - to lead ACT, and we’re delighted to work alongside him,” said Pris Benson and Carol Ann McAdams.

✨ The Teen Ensemble is where passion meets possibility! A collaborative space for young artists of every interest—actors, directors, designers, choreographers, technicians, dramaturges, stage managers, and filmmakers.

The Ensemble provides a supportive, non-competitive environment to learn directly from professional artists.

🎭 Each semester, students take on a new theatrical project. This fall, the Ensemble will work on Chekhov’s The Seagull. Why Chekhov? His plays are full of what’s unsaid—the hidden layers beneath the words. They invite theater-makers to experiment, discover, and reimagine how stories come alive on stage.

The Ensemble is co-led by Artistic Director Coby Goss and Jeremy Williams, with guest artists from theater, film, and media. Together, we share not only our professional practices but also the joys, challenges, and discoveries of life in the arts.
