Busy times at the farm! We had a fabulous time with JJ Tate last weekend! This week we were lucky to have Nancy Shedrick up for saddle adjustments before regionals and our winter homework. We also were fortunate to have J. Nutter and his team up to recondition our lovely indoor footing! It feels amazing! As if that weren’t enough action, we were able to sneak in a day clinic with FEI 4* dressage judge Bill Warren tomorrow! We are feeling fortunate!
Today was spent recovering and reflecting from the last three fantastic days hosting JJ Tate! We feel so privileged to continue to have her spend a chunk of her time at our farm. She is a beautiful person with a wealth of classical knowledge, hysterical stories and imagery, and an amazing ability to connect with a variety of riders, horses, and levels! We are feeling proud and inspired today! Thank you to Susan Oakland for seemlessly coordinating this massive event and to the rest of our team for keeping both our and visiting horses happy and healthy during this event. We can’t wait until next year!

This beautiful Mother’s Day brings a bittersweet ending. Time stands still for no one- not even the greatest little horse I’ve been lucky enough to treat as my own for a decade. Today Majik left the farm for his well deserved retirement! He is sound, healthy, sassy, and off to enjoy his later years teaching a very lucky little boy to ride! I can’t thank Jeri Blethen enough for trusting me with her amazing boy for so many years! He has taught 100s of people how amazing and subtle dressage can be. He has saved many riders from the depths of despair, and from debilitating fear; given others the high of winning championship ribbons; carefully piloted new riders down centerline for the first time; offered his babysitting skills to young horses on their first trail rides. There is nothing I wouldn’t trust Majik to do. I often told people that he makes you feel like you could go to the Olympics tomorrow! It was the truth! He continuously offered kindness, patience, knowledge, lovely sensitivity, and steadiness that gave riders the chance to really think about themselves without things getting messy. Thank you Majik! I could never repay you for all you have given me, this farm, and this corner of the earth! I hope you live it up in retirement and enjoy every mouthful of grass!

We were so pleased to host a clinic with 4* Dressage Judge, and all-around awesome guy, Bill Warren, for the past two days. He offered countless exercises that brought incredible growth out of each horse/rider team. He was creative and kind, supportive and encouraging, but demanding. He missed nothing! AND he loved Paxton! Thank you very much Bill! We hope to see you again soon!

We are incredibly proud of our girls, Caroline, Sydney, Hadley, and Kaitlin, for rocking it at Skijour Skowhegan today! Rio and Josie were mostly the best behaved ponies in a fairly wild environment! Way to cross it off the bucket list girls!
What a successful past weekend we had hosting the one and only JJ Tate! It was an incredible weekend orchestrated perfectly! 34 rides from many different riders, breeds of horses, and levels of training, yet all were equally as inspiring, helpful, and each one showed big improvements from beginning to end. Thank you JJ, for being so willing to hand out your knowledge and expertise in a language that is easy to follow and understand for everyone! Your readiness to offer embarrassing moments of your own when riders are feeling frustrated is so helpful! It helps riders feel more comfortable and encourages them to keep “chopping the wood” because training horses is sometimes messy and humbling on the way to becoming subtle and beautiful! For ALL riders! Thank you to Katie, my right hand and barn manager, for making sure the barn was staffed, cleaned, and the horses were well cared for! Thanks to my barn crew for getting to work extra early to make sure our horses were happy and healthy before rides started! Thank you to organizer extraordinaire, Susan Oakland! So many hours go into organizing an event this big! With participants from all over New England attending, making sure paperwork is all in order, organizing flights, laying out ride times according to everyone’s requests, and keeping everyone in the know!
