Thanks to everyone who came to see the Mischlinge Expose by Carolyn Enger . We had a great turnout of enthusiastic people, all of whom left with something to consider from this insightful and moving musical work. Carolyn's playing was sublime, and heart felt. The delightful asked questions that inspired provocative explanations from Carolyn. The Watchung Arts Center relies on its programming to generate the money that keeps us running. Each and every one who attended contributes to our future offerings. Thank you, again, for being there, and we hope to see you at another Arts Center event.

Pilgrimage, an installation by Sybil Archibald: Art of the Spirit . This is no doubt one of the most profound installations ever shown at the Watchung Arts Center. The work takes you on journey into unknown places where (if you're tech saavy enough) you can incorporate the virtual reality components of the show on your phone that Sybil has created. Stop in to see this incredible visual experience.

Artists reception: Sunday, September 29, 2 to 4 pm.
The exhibition will be up through October 26. Hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 11 am to 1 pm.

Exciting Artist Exhibition Opportunity Apply today to be in the exhibit, "Archeology of Memory." Runs from Sept 14 thru Oct 26. Artists' reception September 29, 2024

Curated by art critic and writer, Tris McCall, (writer and art critic with NJ.com, Jersey City Times and NJArts.net) and gallery director, PE Pinkman.

We are pleased to announce a call for artists for an upcoming exhibition titled "Archeology of Memory," set to be held at the Watchung Arts Center from September 14 to October 26, 2024. This thought-provoking exhibition seeks to explore the interplay between memory, history, and identity through diverse artistic expressions.

Exhibition Concept: "Archeology of Memory" invites artists to delve into the depths of human recollection and the layers of personal and collective history. Just as archeologists unearth artifacts to piece together the past, this exhibition aims to uncover and interpret the fragments of memory that shape our present and future. We encourage artists to examine how memories are preserved, distorted, and reimagined, and to reflect on the ways in which they influence our sense of self and our understanding of history.

Themes and Interpretations: Artists are invited to explore a wide range of themes related to memory, including but not limited to:

Personal Memories: The subjective nature of individual experiences and how they contribute to our identity.

Collective Memory: How shared histories and cultural narratives are formed, maintained, and altered over time.

Historical Memory: The impact of historical events on contemporary life and the process of remembering and forgetting.

Memory and Identity: The relationship between memory and personal or cultural identity.

The Physicality of Memory: The way memories can be represented through physical objects, spaces, or materials.
