There has been some confusion around the "long exposure" category. Long exposure shots are created by holding a cameras shutter open for an extended period of time, for purposes of this contest, longer than 1 second. This captures the entirety of a fireworks "burst", and creates a "blur" effect of moving objects. Phone filters that compile multiple still shots are not long exposure shots and the difference is notable. Here are a couple of examples of long exposure shots:

Today is the last day for entries with the photo contest! Tonight we will be posting all of our entries for voting, which will run through next Sunday, then winners will be chosen

07/09/2024

In regards to the photo contest, when sending photos, could entrants also say which category they wish to enter their photo in? There is a "best photo" category and a "long exposure" category. Please also remember only one entry per category, thank you

07/08/2024

If you are trying to send media for the photo/video contest, only media received via messenger to this page will be accepted, I can't sort through hundreds of comments and tags in different places. Also, please limit your entries to one per category, thank you.

Thanks to everybody who came to support the fireworks in Union Grove yesterday. While I have received a bunch of feedback saying that it was a good show, I'm disappointed. The unexpected rain before dark caused issues with the firing system and also ruined fireworks. Over half of our show did not shoot. We had planned a world class display, and what you seen last night was the worst case scenario.

Contest Announcement!

We're about a week and a half away from the Freedom in the Grove Fireworks in Union Grove and we're excited!

As the ones who shoot the fireworks, we rarely get to enjoy the fireworks from the crowds perspective and as such we rely on pictures and video footage to determine how we can make things better for the future. So we've decided to do a photo contest in Union Grove this year!

There are 3 categories:
1. Best photo
2. Best long exposure photo
3. Best 1 minute video "reel"

The fireworks are scheduled for Saturday July 6th,
After the fireworks we will accept pictures and videos via PM for 7 days. After that, we will post the entries on our page and have 7 days of voting. The pictures and video with the most "likes" will be our winners, with runner ups chosen as well.

Cash Prizes are as follows:

1st place photo(each category)- $150
Runner up-$75

1 minute video 1st place- $200
Runner up- $100

We look forward to seeing what everybody can come up with!

We had a last minute addition for Independence Day fireworks. We will be in Albemarle on July 3rd for the Uwharrie Wampus Cats collegiate baseball team. Fireworks will begin after the ball game or 9:30, whichever is later. While this is a smaller display, the Wampus Cats are a growing ball club and this is the first year the City of Albemarle has hosted fireworks in several years, the town and ball club hope to make this a more often occurrence. If you live in the area and would like to sponsor the team, reach out!

Then we will be at Union Grove, NC on July 6th for Freedom in the Grove. This year will be our biggest display yet, nearly double the amount of product in the display from last year.

Getting this rock tuned in. Blasting for a driveway. Hard rock with little to no grain with mud seams every 2-3 feet. First couple of shots had issues with oversize material too large for excavator to handle, so we tightened the pattern decked the seams, and drilled a line of relief holes along the bank. Had great fragmentation with no oversized. Now just to lay off the powder a touch.

Blasted some rock out of this basement of a future home site. Had a mud seam in the rock that created a couple of boulders in the 2nd shot but mopped them up with no issues.

Drilled and shot about 550 cubic yards of rock for a customer's construction project last week. Has been quite the learning curve learning how to run this drill and figuring patterns with the larger hole sizing but after 115 holes I'm starting to get the hang of it. This whole project has been a learning process as rock conditions were less than ideal. Primary rock was closer to a production grade granite, with a softer sandstone seam at 4 ft-6ft, and then a gniess type rock down to grade. Decked the shot through the soft seam along with shallow satelitte holes in the pattern to ensure good fragmentation of the caprock. Were no utilities or nearby structures so vibration and flyrock wasn't a concern. Shot it hard which caused the blowouts as seen, along with some of the ANFO venting into the soft seam but had overall excellent fragmentation with approximately 85% of material being less than 2'x2'.

Feel free to reach out if you have rock problems. Call or text Josh at 336-468-7683 anytime day or night.
