A Family Affair designed and planned the most magnificent wedding day for Theo & Alec. This included a last minute venue change inland to Golden Pine Farm due to the Hurricane. As pictured here by their amazing smiles, the couple rolled with all the changes and had the most wonderful day with their friends and family. THIS lady right here. This is Kimberly Finch. If you haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting this stylish, kind and confident woman and amazing mom to two wonderful boys, you are truly missing out! We're so honored that Kim joined the AFA team nearly one year ago as our day of production manager. Kim has been working in the Maine events industry since 2001 and we are so proud to call her a teammate and friend. We take on a very limited number of wedding day production clients, and when we do, Kim is at the helm. Here's some kind words from our former clients Ali and Rob:

We crazy! That's why we're having a yard sale in the middle of June during wedding season 🥸 For just one day we are liquidating some inventory and passing on some of my girls childhood favorites: toys, furniture, costumes, books and videos. This girl started with AFA the very week prior to COVID hell breaking loose two short but very long years ago and has been breaking her ass with us ever since. Her love and dedication to our little company has been unmatched. Getting through these last couple of years with her has truly been the best it's ever been, when it could have been the worst. She shares in my love for thrifting, antiquing, designing, roller skating and a good time. Also boys with beards 🧔 our best is yet to come. Love you big time J! 📷

Rebecca has a fine arts education degree and (in her own words) is "a plant loving, French Bulldog snuggling, painter, sculpture Jill of all trades".She has had the opportunity to design and create with , worked as a display and events manager for a high end design and events company in Rhode Island and most recently spent time with beautiful ladies as the studio manager for helping women feel empowered and confident in their own skin. Her work is soul baring and inspiring and we cannot wait for you to meet her. Send her some positive energy as she makes a big move to Maine from Mystic, CT⚡️⚡️

I can't tell you how many times we went over and over this blog post, be it because we didn't want to forget any of the hundreds of special moments and details that went into the making of this day, or for the mere joy of seeing these gorgeous images again and again from . I am still grinning ear to ear and my heart gets a jump every time I think of these two, this day and all the energy they brought in the making of their wedding. After being cooped up for a year, they knew their friends and family were aching to be together. The day was expertly planned for safety and extreme fun. We are so honored to have shared in all the moments, with an incredible vendor team, and we are so proud to share them on the blog (yes, we are BACK!). Kicked our 2022 off right with some cool kids who helped us to have a successful 2021. I can't bring to words how amazing it was to be in the presence of this community after a hard and busy season, even for just a short time. Community is the reason why we do what we do. Now that we are rooted at our new location, the place where my parents built their dream home so many years ago, it was my great joy to share the beauty that my parents worked so hard to create with others. Thanks to all who came, all who gave their talents and all who couldn't make it. You all are appreciated so much and we can't wait to create more magic with you in 2022. 📸

Reflecting on everything that 2021 brought our way has been hard to come to terms with. We haven't shared consistently this year because the magnitude of the work and life balance was so much to handle. I have zero regrets with the choices we had to make this year for our family, our business, our team and our Clients. We did all that we had to do to be where we are now; standing tall after the storm. We may have created more protective boundaries both personally and professionally, but in the end we are committed to our "why" that we had more than 11 years ago. We will continue to provide more unique experiences to our couples, families and clients through thoughtful planning and creative design.

2021 for me:
🤍 inspired patience (more than I ever thought possible)
🤍 made me a mom of a teenager (big bittersweet transition that I am still getting used to)
🤍 required cultivating daily compassion for everything and everyone (me included)
🤍 had me falling asleep almost every weekday sometime around 3 pm like clockwork.
🤍 was hard on our marriage with double the workload while managing a home renovation (15 years strong in 2021!)
🤍 appreciated a closer relationship with my parents as we moved into the showroom on their property.
🤍 tested my "why" over and over again.

Thank you to the incredible support we received from our Clients, our AFA and vendor teams and our families that made all the difference in our success of 2021. Thank you to our followers who stuck with us when we fell silent. We have so much planned in the coming months and promise to share every little detail of the weddings and events we were blessed to be a part of in 2021. Finally, a big thank you to so many who have been in touch about joining our AFA family 🙏 We cannot wait to welcome a new teammate in 2022. Peace, love and cheers to a new year 🥂

Endlessly thankful for the experiences of this year. For the people in our lives and all the many blessings that have brought us to this day. While we will be cooking the turkey this year, we won't be passing it around the table for the second year in a row. We miss gathering, hugging and being together so much! Thinking of so many who need to be apart this holiday. Call or zoom those you love. Keep them tight however you can. Happy Thanksgiving to all. We love you. 📸

We did it. We made it through an intensely wild season. It feels so much like that point of timeline where it's go time on the party. And did we PARTY this year ✨

I abandoned our IG feed to keep my vibe high and focus clear. On the eve of our very last wedding of our 2021 season, I'm reflecting on the all the people, the places and the energy that have encircled us 💞  In a "normal" season I'd have been shouting from the rooftops all summer long at the immense love and beauty and incredible work all around us. It was hard to step back from sharing our creations, challenges and wins with our followers. And it wasn't. No doubt we are tired, worn out, ready to hibernate for days on end. We are also filled to the absolute brim with more joy and pride for not only the fantastic weddings and events we designed and produced this year, but with the direction we are headed for 2022. After a season like this one, we've witnessed an inevitable cleansing and rebirths all around us. The ground has shaken everywhere and our "new normal" has taken hold for now. What did we walk away with? New mindsets. More gratitude (if that was even possible). A greater sense of purpose in the work that we do.

THANK YOU to our AFA teams and my family for working tirelessly. Showing up every damn day. Keeping me sane and our Clients and vendor teams happy.

THANK YOU to our followers who continued to support us, watching our stories, DM ing high fives 🤚

THANK YOU to the many many venues, planners, Clients, vendors for being flexible with your time and understanding when we had to switch delivery times or had to wait on floor plans or substitute product, etc etc.

We cannot wait to shift gears.
We have come so far and we have so much to share with you in the coming weeks, I can hardly wait.
After eleven years in the biz, AFA has only just begun 🧨

Oh hey! Meet some of my people. Like the gorgeous people in the frame and all the people tagged ❤ These are the people who brought the love and energy and passion and excitement to this incredible day-all of them. It was an absolute joy to witness it all unfold: all the beauty, charm, laughter, tears, energy on the dancefloor and on the mic until the wee hours Sunday. We won the wedding planning lottery with all the humans (and non-humans 🐶) involved, and especially with these three who will forever have our hearts. Thanks to all for getting that bar so high to start off wedding season 🙌 we love you!
