Back when I was married, my husband David was a trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He loved flashy jackets, and I would sew him custom jackets to wear on the floor. We raised an incredible family- our children- Joel, Jonathan and Amanda.
Amanda has been selected as a nominee for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Visionaries of the Year campaign. She joined LLS because 10 years ago, her father, my ex-husband, David, lost his battle with lymphoma at the young age of 69. He left this world much too young, and Amanda spent those final weeks with him, informing him that he had to be moved to hospice. As Amanda’s mother, it was devastating to watch the toll it took on her to lose her father. Amanda decided that she does not want to see others suffer like her father and other family members go through the pain that she and her brothers went through watching her father battle this terrible disease.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Visionaries of the Year campaign is an aggressive 10-week fundraising campaign where philanthropic leaders compete to raise money and awareness about blood cancers. The official campaign runs from April 5th to June 15th and culminates with the Grand Finale at Union Station. Amanda has set an aggressive goal of raising $125,000. I have joined Amanda’s team which she has named- For the Love. I am asking you to support our efforts in reaching our goal and supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
As my friends and colleagues, I am asking you to help us save lives! Thank you!
