Our “niche” is that we don’t “niche.” We are milestone photographers because our clients are more than customers to us–they are lifelong friends, and we are the people documenting their lives–from first falling in love, to marriage, to building a family and more

. For eleven years now, our photography business has offered clients high-quality photos from engagements to newborn shoots, and everything in between. As photographers, we know that life is worth documenting, and Chantal has been doing just that with her camera since she began shooting family sessions and weddings in 2009. If you are booking an engagement, family, senior session or any wedding or portrait package with only one photographer, you’ll be working with Chantal to create your photos! You can expect lots of laughs, easy conversation, and plenty of direction during the time together. Chantal is fun, easy going, artistic, and quick to connect with you and your loved ones, especially children. Ben joined the CEP team when he and Chantal were married in 2015. In the beginning, he worked as an associate shooter at weddings, helping to capture beautiful details, emotional first looks and joyous wedding ceremonies. Clients have always appreciated his relaxed and social personality. He’s also a tender-hearted guy who does a great job nabbing those sweet, candid moments you care about on your special day. And with every precious photo he has snapped, the business has grown. Eventually, Ben joined the team full-time, and you can now find him behind the scenes as a chief photo editor and blogger, as well as assisting and shooting during portrait sessions and weddings with 2nd-shooter perspectives. Together, we’ve built a photography company that cares deeply about capturing your precious milestones in a way that will honor them forever, with a classic film and lifestyle approach. And because we’re also married people and parents, we understand so many of the barriers that might be holding you back from getting your photos taken, whether it’s trouble with your schedule, or just plain feeling nervous about choosing an outfit. WOW. Kaeleigh and Salem planned an absolutely stunning wedding and reception at Fricano's Muskegon Lake, and everything--from the beautiful and thoughtful gifts to the vibrant silk florals--was perfectly executed.

But even more impressive than all of the gorgeous details were the kind words that the couple's family and friends had to say about them during reception speeches. I was truly touched listening to Kaeleigh's siblings talk about how caring and influential she was for them, and they all had the exact same sentiment for Salem, the perfect protector and partner they had envisioned for their sister.

I couldn't think of a better way to end our wedding season--on an exquisite and elegant note of joy. So many congrats to this lovely couple--we could not thank them more for bringing us along on their marriage journey.

OH! And introducing us to Archie and Olive, two of the cutest dogs I've ever met in my life. ;) YAHOO! Mom and Dad got married!

Loved photographing the Olson family again this fall—I've treasured documenting their memories since their oldest, Z, was just a toddler! We've explored it all over the years; from dunes to woods to home studio sessions, and this year they totally rocked a city vibe! 🏢 The kids were so phenomenal that we captured everything in just 30 minutes--very impressive! On this last spectacularly gorgeous October Saturday, I got to photograph my sister's wedding at Backwoods Paradise Venue! Erica and Austin celebrated their day along with their three beautiful daughters, friends and family in the Scottville area. From tall pines and sunshine to the beautifully decorated hall and tasty food, the family really worked together to create a perfect event. Ben and I were the photographers but this time with a twist--I was also a bridesmaid, and providing the florals haha! =) I'm so excited to share these photos of Erica's special day and I'm sending much love to my sister, nieces, and new brother-in-law!

Had the best time capturing this sweet fall engagement session with the most laid-back couple, Lindsay & Nick, and their adorable, high-energy pup, Journey! Despite Journey’s excitement for her two humans, we managed to snap some amazing shots that truly reflect their mellow vibe and deep trust in each other. Heather and Daniel's intimate day in Norton Shores was planned to absolute perfection--from getting ready and photos at the lakeshore, to a cozy, eclectic garden party and ceremony at the couple's home! Their friends and family, dressed in jewel tones, enjoyed a lovely meal from Navarros and a great soundtrack, too--lots of my favorite love songs from the 1960s with a few 2000s R&B gems mixed in. =) My favorite details of the day had to be Heather's stunning vintage dress that was worn by not only her mother but also her grandmother (absolutely epic and wonderful!) and Daniel's SERIOUS hugging game--scroll through to see one of his famous bear hugs. I can't forget their adorable German shepherd Joey and his flower wreath. Thank you to our mitten state for providing the most perfect October day for this wonderful couple's wedding--so many congratulations to them, and so much gratitude for inviting me in on their special day!

Are you ever frustrated when you look on photography websites, and it seems like everyone is a fashion model? Lol! That's because many professionals showcase a highlight reel of what they think is the standard of beauty. At Chantal Elise Photography, not only do I celebrate diversity and authenticity in humans (and I think that shows in our portfolio!) but I also recognize and validate your insecurities. Speaking personally as a plus size woman, it's very infuriating and frustrating to have my insecurities dismissed as some sort of toxic trait. It's normal to have body hang ups! While we don't want to vilify our outward appearance, there are so many factors that go into feeling confident in your photos. From the way your photographer makes you feel, to the way that you are posed, to the experience of the photographer behind the camera who understands what it means to feel insecure in your earthly shell. (Priceless!) My promise to you is to make you feel both comfortable and beautiful during our time together!
