The Arts Bash will feature a special performance by the one and only Jeffrey Gaines! Jeffrey Gaines is celebrated for his soul-searching lyrics and powerful live performances, captivating audiences worldwide with just his voice and guitar. Over his three-decade career, he has built a devoted international fan base with his introspective songs and uplifting melodies. Known for hits like “Hero in Me” and his cover of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes,” Gaines has toured with legends like Tom Petty, Tracy Chapman, and Stevie Nicks. His live shows are renowned for their deep connection with audiences, reflecting his passion for performing. Gaines continues to create and perform with enthusiasm, always looking forward to new musical experiences. Thank you to Jeffrey Gaines for being part of our Community Arts Bash!

The Norwalk Art Space is honored to have a special performance by Gail Ann Dorsey, a renowned multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and recording artist with over three decades in mainstream and independent music. Best known as an influential bass guitarist and dynamic vocalist, she played a significant role in David Bowie’s bands from 1995 to 2004 and has recorded with artists like Lenny Kravitz, Seal, and Gwen Stefani. As a solo artist, she has released three albums and is currently focusing on creating new music and performing solo. We are so thrilled to have Gail Ann Dorsey perform here at our Community Arts Bash!

The Petty-Drayton Music Program at The Norwalk Art Space offers free, high-quality music education to under-served students. We currently provide after-school classes in guitar, vocal technique, percussion, and performance skills. Due to high demand, we’re planning additional classes for this summer!
The program provides all instruments and aims to complement TNAS’ free visual art classes. It is offered in partnership with INTEMPO, a leading music education organization based in Stamford. The first 3 years were funded by Adria Petty, Charley Drayton and Bernard Drayton, who are being honored at this year’s Arts Bash.

Each year, we select 8 local artists for our year-long programs: 4 emerging talents for our Resident Artist Program and 4 seasoned artists for our Korry Fellow Program. Selection criteria include artistic talent, community engagement, interest in teaching youth, and ability to activate our space. All selections are viewed through a DEI lens, with the aim of having each annual cohort consist of at least 50% female and nonbinary artists and at least 50% people of color (groups that have been severely under-represented in the art economy throughout history).
Resident Artists are core to our Art Education Program, teaching free weekly classes, while Korry Fellows mentor and lead workshops. Join usat the Arts Bash if you’d like to meet our newest group of artists!
