During this season of giving thanks, we’d like to express our gratitude to the entire community for its support of The Norwalk Art Space. Two and a half years ago, we embarked on a journey guided by Alexandra Davern Korry's vision. Since then, more than 2,300 students have enjoyed free art and music classes and free art enrichment activities at TNAS! This journey is a testament to the power of art, music, education, and community - all shared freely.

Your support is crucial to keep classes free for all students. A $50 donation can cover one class session for one student; $500 can sponsor that student for an entire semester. With your contribution, our canvas expands, melodies amplify, and The Norwalk Art Space continues to be a sanctuary for growth, equity and opportunity, open to all at no charge.

Welcome to The Norwalk Art Space's 23-24 Petty-Drayton call for art! In this call to action, we ask that you create a design that will be printed on T-shirts to be worn by our music students during their concerts! The design should represent and embody Tom Petty’s and Bernard Drayton’s likenesses (see image). We encourage you to listen to their music and research their extensive careers to gain inspiration and direction. The design should be easily understood by the average person.

Deadline is November 17th

Age limit: 18 and younger

Photos should be attached in JPG format and as high resolution as possible (Don't photograph your work in direct sunlight; you're looking for diffused natural light. There should be no dappled light or sunbeams across your work. Avoid deep shadows and dappling effects. For optimal lighting, take photographs of your artwork outside on a bright but cloudy day.)

Winners will receive a prize of $150
Recognition on all social media and press materials
Artwork featured on Petty/Drayton Music Program T-Shirts

Good luck and we look forward to seeing all the great designs :)

Last week, TNAS hosted a talk with its Senior Art Advisor Helen Klisser During. Helen spoke of her history in Fairfield County as a facilitator of the arts and how she helped to build the rich art community we have now. She also inspired us with all the amazing projects she is building in New Zealand, where she currently lives. It was great to see so many artists, curators and community supporters in this intimate and emotional talk. Helen will be off again to NZ but we hope to have her back again soon.
