As this growing season is quickly coming to an end, it is amazing how much life is present. I have never seen so many gulf fritillary butterflies at one time! If you look closely you will see the dust covered, dried leaves of the plants that have worked so hard all summer. There are dried, dead flowers next to buds just opening. There are some plants that are nearly dead and some that are still putting out new leaves. After the first good frost all of these plants will be done. However, just a feet over, the seeds for next spring’s flowers are starting to germinate. A garden, very much like our life, is ever changing. It is so amazing to see God’s hands always present. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
The beautiful sounds of the dog days of summer in the Deep South. I feel like I am back at my childhood home in the 80’s living my best life. 😁 #flowerfarm #localgrown #louisianafarmers
I worked at the clinic today, so I only had a little amount of time to work at Concord Flower Farm late this evening trying to water. I just had to stop and take a minute to listen to the cicadas. As I was sitting there, I was immediately taken back in time to the 80’s on highway 2 west of Oak Grove in our backyard playing with my sister and the best friends a person could ever ask for. These are definitely the dog days of summer with this heat, no rain and the mosquitoes, but when I was a child, there was a magic about them that I was able to briefly relive this evening.
