Did you know that according to Dragomir Simovic on an article written for Smallbizgenius in “2016 there were 25 million Americans who were starting or already running their own business”?
LA Flower Boutique was once simply one of those “what if’s” or “imagine” thoughts in Maria’s, my mother’s, head. Starting a business for some reason seemed like an impossible for my mother because she felt it was too late to start, she already had her path drawn, and most commonly, she was afraid.
Like in most cases, she hid away her talent and focused on her full time job to help support our family of 5 and live a comfortable life.
In May of 2017 we, my family, lost an important soul, my brother, Luis Alvarez. “There’s nothing that symbolizes loss or grief more than a mother losing a child” (LaChapelle) Another piece of my mother had fallen into the floor and crashed.
