At the Black Joy Parade Healing Village, we’re holding space for both —
the grief we carry
and the joy that keeps us moving.
In partnership with the powerful 1-800-HAPPY BIRTHDAY exhibition, this space invites us to remember, reflect, and celebrate the lives of Black and Brown loved ones taken too soon — while still choosing community, music, movement, and care.
Inside the Healing Village you’ll find:
- 1-800 Happy Birthday Phone Booth Experience (artist: .earth curated by: produced by: .studio)
Tree Altar (design by ) write and release messages to loved ones
- Art Cloud Wall (led by ) — add your voice to our community mural
- Breathwork Reset Lounge (by & )— moments to pause, rest, and reset
- Defrost Zone — is bringing to provide free birthday scoops while they share protestor + ICE resources and information about their Autopsy Initiative.
What melts ICE? espresso. Pour it on top of your ice cream for a healing affogato moment
-Music and vibes by the one and only
- Onsite mental health practitioners for additional support and care
- Portrait popup by to capture our joy, presence, and community!
Because Black joy has always lived alongside our grief.
Because celebration can also be remembrance.
Because community is how we carry each other forward.
